CHAPTER FOUR

Loki listened over the phone, hearing Tony’s voice instead of his brother’s as he thought it would have been. Loki sat up, rubbing his head in pain from his fall, listening.

“So, anyway, I was wondering if tonight if you're feeling better, and Thor says you have work, so after work would you want to hang out at a local club? Don’t worry, it’s a legal club for teens to hang out at on Friday nights. So, you in?”

Loki sighed, thinking of his messed up face and then being reminded he had work tonight at a local convenient store down the road. He groaned and rubbed his temples, thinking. He thought about Tony’s question and sighed. He’d already seen his eye and him hurt. Though that was not in any way shape or form a good thing, he worked hard on looking good every morning and it was all messed up. Damn Grant. He let out a sigh and before he knew what he was doing he said, “Alright I’ll go, but after work”

Loki smiled, hearing Tony let out a chuckle on the other end, “Alright, sweet. I’ll pick you up with Thor at your place when you're done.”

Loki, realizing what he had just agreed to, his smile dropped and nodded sober now, “Yeah, alright.”

With that Loki hung up the phone, groaning, and looked at his phone’ clock. If he didn’t leave soon, he would be late for work and that would not be good at all. He got up and grabbed his offensive piece of eye wear to hide his black eye, and went to check himself out in the bathroom mirror. He sighed and went to run a brush through his bed-headed hair. Once he was done getting ready, he dodged more boxes on his way out, stopping only to get his favorite long jacket and green and yellow scarf. He walked out into the chilly air of the early evening and headed down the street to his work place.

Loki worked at a Seven Eleven convenience store as Bag Boy and, at times, a cash register clerk. Loki entered the building, got the tacky store vest, and went to clock in. He checked the time one last time; he was a few minutes early, but that was better than being late. Maybe the night will be better than the day and brighten up.  Loki went to his manager, who was at the register reading a fashion magazine.

Loki, in an attempt to make her smile, he commented, “You know, Kristen Stewart has a look that screams, ‘So last decade!’?”

The manager let loose a small smile and said in a slight British accent, “Finally, someone who understands and sees it too.”

Loki laughed a bit and nodded, “So, what am I to do today?”

The manager smiled, her lips curling up abit, “Um, you can start with re-stocking the shelves for the chips; it’s Friday and teens will be in wanting some for sure.”

Loki nodded and went to do as told. Going into the back of the store and getting the boxes of chips, he came back and started re-shelving.  Loki spent his whole shift that night going back and forth from re-shelving and working the cash register. The manager, Becca, was right; a lot of teenagers had come in more than normally.

Once Loki got off, he went to the back to get his things. When he came back, he heard his brother’s loud laugh and saw him at the front desk talking with Becca, who was laughing and talking with Thor. Loki walked up, listening to Thor talk, and found that he was re-telling all that had happened that day at school. Loki sighed, rolled his covered eyes, and went to leave when him saw Tony with Piper outside looking like they were waiting for the brothers. Loki sighed and walked towards the couple--Tony had his arms wrapped around Pipers waists as she leaned into his chest.

Loki watched as he walked outside, “Hey, I thought we were all meeting at the flat?”

Tony smiled, “Thought it would be better if we got you from here instead; had no idea your brother would make a new friend.”
