We first met here, on the beach.
I was from Tokyo and had come to Iwatobi with my family for the holidays.
Your siblings had disappeared behind your back, running off to play somewhere else. They'd seen my siblings, and all of them started to build sandcastles together.
I was worried when I saw them running over, beginning to play like they knew my siblings so well. Children are so friendly with each other.
I'd asked them where their parents were, and facepalmed when they told me, "At home." But then to said their older brother was coming, so I wasn't really that worried
You arrived quite a while later, sweating profusely and slightly out of breath. I could see that you were worried, and then I realised your siblings had run off without telling you.
So that was how we met.
We spent the next few years in each other's company during the school holidays, bringing our siblings to each other's homes for playdates, studying together, going to cafes. It was fun, and I started to notice what I felt around you every time I returned.
You changed, in my eyes. How I found it so attractive when you pushed your damp hair back after swimming, or how you made my heart race when we hung out together.
It was called liking someone.
I didn't know you felt that way too, until one day you asked if you could kiss me.
We started dating, in secret of course. During our siblings' playdates, we would pretend to get stuff from our rooms or give the excuse that we were studying, then kiss quietly behind closed doors.
It was exciting, dating in secret, knowing that any moment, if we weren't careful, we could be caught. The only issue was that after a few weeks, I had to head back to Tokyo for school. But we kept in touch, video calling, texting, telling each other about our days.
Some people would grow further apart when they maintained a long-distance relationship, but ours stayed just fine. Perhaps it was our dedication to each other, or how we relied on each other a lot.
After high school, you came to Tokyo for university. I intended to join you at the same one, but Meijou Chou University didn't have the course I wanted. Nevertheless, we met up, did our work together, and hung out at each other's apartments. It was easier to maintain our relationship; we were both in Tokyo and we grew close day by day.

The train ride was long and boring. Even with Japan's advanced technology, the ridiculously fast speed of the train, and the extreme accuracy of the arrival timings, the distance from Tokyo to Iwatobi could not be beaten.
Eight hours by train. That's how long we sat for. By the time we reached Iwatobi, we were exhausted, but your family was so welcoming, and they didn't really care when I fell asleep an hour after I arrived.
Two days later, your parents took your siblings to Osaka (which is quite near to Iwami, where Iwatobi is based on) so we were left at home.
13 hours after his family had left, it was starting to get dark, and you led me blindfolded to somewhere.
I could smell the salty air, and feel the cool breeze brush across my skin, my feet coming into contact with the soft sand.
I felt your fingers pull off the slippers on my feet, and I asked, "Why are we at the beach now? We should have come out to play when it was sunny."
I heard you chuckle, then say, "You'll soon know."
We walked for a while, before I felt the blindfold being tugged off my face. Soft streaks of sunlight met my eyes, but the glare wasn't as blinding as I thought it would be.
The dropping sun left golden pools on the water surface, sinking slowly into the horizon.
We were on a somewhat secluded part of the beach, hidden by rock walls, the area so quiet, the only sounds were the swish of waves hitting the sand.
"Makoto...it's beautiful, "I muttered, turning around to face you.
I thought you'd just wanted me to see the scenery, but there you were, smoothening out a cloth, setting out some food from a basket.
You motioned me over, and I sat down next to you, slightly confused as to what you was doing.
"It's a beach date," you explained, noticing my expression, "apparently it's romantic."
I let out a soft laugh, but my heart fluttered a little, and I was blushing. We spent the next few hours eating, playing in the water and chatting, as the sun dipped below the horizon and the moon began to rise.
There was little human development here, and we could see the stars in the night sky, undisturbed from the light pollution.
It was beautiful.
The temperature began to drop as the night set in, and I shivered, suddenly aware that I didn't even have a light sweater on.
Then I felt your arm pull me close, your body radiating warmth.
We stayed in that position for a long time, enjoying each other's company.
"Ne, Makoto,"
"Hmm?"
"I love you."

prompt: Makoto took the reader on a date to the beach and they had fun
I haven't posted (is that right? should it be published? or uploaded? idk) in quite a while, I'm really busy with school currently
It seems that I didn't exactly follow the prompt very well (sorry), but I hope it was still nice to read.
