You let out a quiet hum, nestling into your pillows as sunlight creeped into your room via the windows, the smell of food wafting up from the lower section of your home.
And within seconds, that peace was shattered.
"Cicero, you little fucker, I'm going to choke you until you turn blue!" came the loud scream.
"Cicero wanted the food!" was the frantic response as loud footsteps echoed in the main floor.
You groaned, grabbing a pillow and tucking your head underneath it in hopes of muffling the loud yells from below.
Lydia let out what you could only describe as a warcry, and a shriek followed from Cicero.
You threw your pillow across the room and kicked your blankets off, only in a robe, but still slapping your room doors open with little care.
"Would the both of you shut up?" you roared, the sound nearly shaking the foundations of the house due to the small about of thu'um in your breath.
There was complete silence for a few moments.
"Cicero is very sorry," the jester apologized sincerely.
Lydia scoffed, "Not my fault."
"Lydia, for once in your life, could you loosen up a bit?" you muttered, shaking your head as you slipped back into your room to put on some clothing and taking quick steps downstairs to see the silent glaring battle between your two housemates.
You rolled your eyes, then looked to the soup cooking in the middle of the room. The housecarl stiffened.
"Rabbit and chicken from last night, carrots, salt, and potatoes," she informed.
You nod. "Thanks. Cicero, would you tidy up a bit? We're going to have a guest for the day."
The man smiled widely, "Anything for the pretty bird!"
As Cicero went off up the stairs, you and Lydia were left alone.
Your narrowed eyes beat her glare.
"Be nice, Lydia," you warned.
"No," she barked, "he is an assassin, he's insane, he-"
"That was an order."
The sharp, threatening tone you took was very unlike your normal persona. Never once had you give a command as a warning- with Lydia, it was often you added a play of your authority as a teasing reminder, not as a threat. She paled, swallowing.
"You've been over-reacting for months now," you muttered, "it's about time you stop trying to be so tough."
There was the barest hint her head dipping before you walked out of the home, eyes set straight ahead and cold.
You paused, thinking to tell her something, but decided against it and swung open the door.
You shut the door behind you and slipped out the dagger in your boot, twirling it between your fingers as you walked past the marketplace and past Jorvaskrr. Your boots were silent against the stone.
You took an odd alleyway to a rather secluded part of the city, the bordering wall in arm's reach. Slipping the dagger back in your boot, you moved your fingers to tap against the wall.
A figure dressed in dark leathers leaned against a house a few feet away glanced up.
Delvin snorted. "'Ello, Guildmaster. Long time no see."
You smiled thinly. "Indeed, Delvin."
"What 'ave you got for me, then?" he raised a brow.
"I assume you have heard of the raids on the Dark Brotherhood," he nodded, and you continued. "I want you to rally up the remaining members, send them to the Dawnstar Sanctuary. We'll be working with them in a major bust coming fall."
The man recoiled. "What? On who?"
You chuckle. "We're raiding the Embassy. I need whoever's leading told they need to come to Whiterun and knock 4 times on the back door of Breezehome during the night so I can start the plans. Now that the war is won, we can get back on the good side of people for a while so they don't turn their attention to capturing our members."
"Sounds like a plan, boss," Delvin grinned.
"Oh, and," you hum, "tell them all that Cicero is still alive. Off you go now, come back to me when the job is done and I'll have your pay."
You turned on your heel and walked off, following your previous route and getting back to your home in little time.
When you opened the door, you were greeted with a very knocked out Lydia and a fuming Cicero.
