Chapter Twenty-Nine: Mortal

Start from the beginning

"Still got some teeth. Why don't you get down here a little closer, huh? We'll see how helpless I am," Derek states, threatening Matt, I could feel his chest rise and fall as he spoke.

"Yeah, bitch," Stiles had said at the side of us, in a weird voice of his. Just then, I heard a vehicle pull into the station car park.

"Is that her?" Matt states as he leans back up to look at Scott. "Do what I tell you to and I won't hurt her. I won't even let Jackson near her,"

"Scott, don't trust him!" Stiles had opened his mouth, Matt turned to look at him before placing his foot between his neck and chest, pressing down, to cut off air to his lungs.

"This works better for you," Matt started to push harder on Stiles chest, and he began to choke and turn red in the face as a vein popped out of his head.

"Okay, hey just stop! Stop!" Scott yells at Matt. I focused my eyes on Matt, trying to use my magic to throw him off of Stiles, but nothing happened to him.

"Then do what I tell you to," Matt states strongly to Scott.

"Okay," Scott pleaded with him. "All right. Stop!" Matt waited for a moment, before lifting his foot up and Stiles gasps and coughs.

"You, take them in there," Matt states to Jackson, motioning to the Sheriff office. "You...With me," with that Matt and Scott went out of the room to the front entrance. Jackson began to drag us one by one into the Sheriff's office. He had dragged Stiles into the room and then came for me. Jackson had grabbed the back of my shirt to flip me over and off of Derek. I was soaking up the moment on him...

Once I was on my back, he grabbed my right wrist and pulled me into the room where Stiles was. Dragging me, like I was a mop and I was cleaning up. I was put next to Stiles, Jackson let go of my arm and he put it gently back down to my side, but when you look at Stiles, one of his arms was next to his head. It looked like I was laying down straight in a line.

Suddenly I heard a gunshot ring out, and a wave of fresh blood entered my nostrils. I could tell it was Scott's, it had a certain smell too it. Jackson had now dragged Derek in and he placed him to my left, before Jackson stood by the door like a solider waiting for their General.

Moments passed, Scott and Matt came back into the room. Matt pointed the gun to the back of Scott before pushing it into him, making him go forward. "The evidence is gone. Why don't you just go?" Scott states, not sure why he's still here.

"You--you think the evidence mattered that much, huh? No, no, I-I want the book," Matt states, and I had a feeling that he was wanting something that Scott doesn't have.

"What--what book?" Scott questioned.

"The bestiary," Matt states, I could feel Stiles and Derek gaze pass over me to stare at one another. "Not just a few pages, I want the entire thing,"

"I don't have it. It's Gerard's. What do you want it for, anyway?" Scott states, pondering the question on why he wants the bestiary, but nothing good comes out of wanting the book.

"I need answers," Matt replied.

"Answers to what?" Scott had raised his voice at Matt, not too much, but just enough to push him to give an honest answer.

"To this," Matt states as he lifts up his shirt. The side of his body was covered in Kanima skin, my eyes go wide as I stare at it as it shimmed a blue colour. Matt had dropped his shirt cocking his gun to the side, gesturing to Scott to me, both of them leaving the office.

Jackson had stood in the doorway before he looked at us once before staring out of the door.

"Hey," Stiles whispers to the side of me. "You know what's happening to Matt?"

"The book isn't going to help him," I replied in the whisper tone Stiles did to me. "You can't just break the rules, not like this,"

"What do you mean?" Stiles asked on, keeping his whisper tone.

"Nature balances things out, it always does," I replied back to Stiles.

"Is it because he's using Jackson to kill people who don't deserve it?" Stiles states.

"Killing people himself too," Derek had now added a comment.

"So if Matt breaks the rules of the Kanima, he becomes the Kanima?" Stiles asked, and he was right.

"Balance," I replied, my eyes turning to look at Stiles.

"Will he believe us if we tell him that?" Stiles had asked, and no he probably wouldn't.

"Not likely," Derek states, as he knew it was true.

"Okay, he's gonna kill all of us when he gets his hand on that book isn't he?" Stiles had asked, and Matt probably would kill us all when he gets his hand on the book.

"Yep," Derek and I say in union.

"All right, so what do we do?" Stiles states after he sighs heavily. "Do we just--do we just sit here, and wait to die?"

"Unless we can figure out a way to push the toxin out of my body faster. Like trigger the healing process," Derek states, I feel him shift slightly as he began to dig his claws into hid leg, to trigger the healing.

"Wha--oh, what are you doing?" Stiles asked as he wanted to know as he couldn't see from me being in the middle of them both.

"He's using his claws to dig into his leg to start the healing process," I state to Stiles as a squishing sound came from Derek's leg.

"Aw, gross," Stiles said in his gross sound voice. "Can't you say a spell to get us out this?" My eyes rolled at him, as I couldn't, I was kind of scared to try.

"I--I can't. I'm having trouble," I replied, as I looked at the ceiling.

"What how?" Stiles pushed on, he was only curious and that was fine with me.

I sighed deeply, as this was going to be his first lesson in Witchcraft and what it meant in being a Witch. "My magic is being suppressed, I'm disbelieving in myself. The things that happened with Jackson, I couldn't help and that effected me," I huff in a frustration as it pissed me off. I've helped people for centuries and it was my passion, and now for not using it for so long, I was helpless. "My magic is apart of me, such as Derek being a werewolf. I was born like this, and without it, I'm... Nothing..." There was a sadness in my tone, but I couldn't look at either one of them.

They both were quite, not knowing what to truly say about it, and I didn't expect them to be... My magic was my only link to my family and if I lost my it now. I would break...
