"Tobias, we have a daughter," The words just seem to fall out of my mouth. He puts his hand to his head, confused. "What? When did this happen!" He sounds angry.
"Um, just before you left Abnegation. I was about two weeks pregnant when you left," I say as more and more tears begin making their way down my cheek.
I really hope he isn't upset about this because otherwise, I did all of this for nothing...
"Um, okay?" He says, "And, why are you only telling me now. I wouldn't have left if you'd told me," His face is bright red, he's either going to cry or punch something.
"I-I was scared about how you'd react. We were young, plus, you'd only just turned sixteen and I was fourteen," I say. He looks at me, walking towards me. He brushes a strand of hair behind my ear. "I wouldn't have been angry if that's what you were thinking. I'm angry now because I missed the start of our baby's life," And then, finally, he begins crying. I stare at my feet, which are planted strongly on the ground.
I've never seen a man cry before. "Can I meet her?" He asks. I smile, looking up from the ground. "Of course, Tobias," I say, he wraps his arms around me, hugging me tightly. "I've missed you so much. Each day has been so horrible without you. I love you, Beatrice," He says, kissing my forehead.
"I love you too, Tobias," I say. "Uh, could you please call me Four around everyone, as they don't know my real name," He says. Ah, that's why he's calling himself Four...
"What's her name?" He asks, he doesn't seem so uptight anymore, he's become more relaxed. "Alessia," I say. "Alessia Eaton," I whisper. "Our little Lessi," I say, smiling up at him. "I honestly love that name!" He says, sounding extremely proud and happy.
"Four, what are you doing with the stiff?" Eric says, my eyes widen. I feel my heart race. Did he see any of that? "Uh, just explaining the rules," Tobias replies. "Okay," Eric says, suspicious of what we're doing.
Eric walks off, "When can I meet her?" He says, smiling down at me. "Whenever you want?" I say happily. "Can we go now?" He asks I look around, "If you want?" I say.
"Come on then, let's go!" Tobias says, taking my hand as we walk out of the Dauntless Compound.
...
We make our way towards Abnegation. Hopefully, nobody sees us together. Otherwise, there will be questions...
I knock on the front door of my parents' house and I can already hear the loud laughter of Alessia. "Is that Alessia?" Tobias asks. I smile, nodding. He looks over at me, grinning.
My mother opens the door, with Lessi on her hip. "Beatrice? Tobias?" My mother asks in complete shock.
"Hey Mom, Tobias wants to meet Lessi. Is that okay?" I ask, she smiles, nodding. "Please come in," She says, opening the door wider. Mom hands Alessia over to me. Alessia buries her head into my shoulder.
"Baby, Daddy is here to meet you," I say, running my hand through her curly locks of hair. I always showed her photos of her Daddy before I left Abnegation for Dauntless.
I hand Alessia over to Tobias. She starts crying but calms down after about a minute. I hold her hand, reassuring her that it'll be okay. "There you go, baby!" I say, kissing her cheek.
"Hey baby," Tobias says, bouncing her on his hip. "I love you so much. You're the spitting image of your Mommy!" He says, kissing her forehead. I feel tears start falling down my face. This is beautiful.
We spend time together with my parents and Alessia, until about nine o'clock, because it's Alessia's bedtime.
Tobias and I both put her to bed together. He didn't want to let go of her, I can tell now that he's in love, just as I was, when I first laid eyes on Alessia.
"Good night, Baby!" We say in unison, before shutting the door.
-- back at Dauntless
"Would you like to stay with me tonight?" Tobias asks. He holds my hand tightly. "I'd love to," I say.
He stops and stares at me. "What?" I say. "Tris, I have always loved you. You have always been my best friend, my partner in crime. I have always wanted to spend the rest of my life with you, but when I left Abnegation, I became someone else. Someone I am not, but now that's you're here with me, you have made me whole again. And then tonight, meeting our daughter, who is as beautiful and as amazing as her you are. Honestly, I love you so much, Beatrice Prior!" He says, pulling me close and planting a kiss on my lips.
We stand in the freezing cold, our faces going bright red from the chill. Then, we begin running. He holds onto my hand tightly.
After a few minutes of running and feeling very out of breath, we make it to Tobias' apartment!
He picks me up, carrying me inside. He holds me tightly. I nestle my head under his chin.
He places me down on his bed, gently. He pulls me close to him, kissing me passionately.
"I don't want to go too fast," I say, pulling back slightly.
"Okay," he says, before kissing me once more, and then laying down beside me.
"I love you, Tobias Eaton,"
