"What now?" Liz asked curiously.
"We wait a few minutes for it to develop," Maeve said as she placed it on her bedside cabinet.
"That's weird," Liz said, peering curiously at the picture.
"The music's so loud, I've already got a headache and we're not even downstairs yet," Cissa complained.
"You'll be fine once you have some firewhiskey inside you," Maeve comforted in a non-comforting kind of way.
"There's gonna be firewhiskey?" Thea squeaked in excitement.
"Yeah, Barty somehow managed to smuggle some in," Maeve smiled as she sat down on the edge of her bed
"What's the deal with you and him anyway? Are you dating?" Liz asked.
"Me and Barty? No way," Maeve laughed genuinely.
"Then what are you?" Cissa asked as she hair-sprayed her hair with magic holding spray.
"Well we had this fling over the summer...nothing serious, just fucked a couple of times," Maeve said casually as she fingered a loose blonde curl resting on her shoulder.
The girls spluttered and squealed in shock at their friend.
"Are you kidding? How can you say that so casually?" Cissa said in an unusually high-pitched voice.
"Sex isn't a big deal," Maeve laughed at her friends.
"Well at least apparently not for you," Cissa giggled.
"You calling me a slag?" Maeve asked.
"Oh no I-"
"Relax Cissa, I'm just teasing," Maeve laughed.
"So, do you like him?" Liz asked.
"In what way?" Maeve asked.
"As in romantic," Liz said.
"Nah, I thought I did but I know now that I really don't," Maeve said, "it's fun to flirt with him though."
"Isn't that a bit mean though?" Cissa asked, "you're just leading him on."
"He's a big boy, Cis, he can handle himself," Maeve dismissed.
She turned to the photo on the bedside cabinet and saw it had mostly developed. She looked at it for a moment to see if she would actually want to keep it.
Yeah, that was good. She wrote the date on it with her best quill and darkest ink: 1/10/75.
She reached under her bed and grabbed the wooden memory box she kept there. She had the box since first year, and had documented most things since then to build up the memories. The box was wooden with little floral engravings on the top, it was a gift from her mother on her tenth birthday in anticipation for going to Hogwarts.
