Chapter 60: 5 Years
Flash forward 20 years
Astrid POV:
I was a 48-year old woman, sitting next to my husband on the porch swing of our country home. The sun burned down on the fields of Berk, and me and Hiccup leaned on one another, enjoying our moment together. Our feet slightly swept across the porch of our house, as we swung lightly on our porch swing.
I moved my light blonde and grey stranded braid to the left side of my shoulder, and flattened my dress.
Once I was perfectly cuddled into Hiccup, I began to go into a trance of how perfect and beautiful my life is, and how much I owe it to Hiccup. How I never would have made it if he had not come back. I still miss Blake every single day of my entire life, and I always will, but Hiccup, Hiccup was my soulmate.
I smiled at the thought and kissed his cheek, and he leaned on my head. The dogs layed at our feet and cuddled. Our perfect family.
*FLASHBACKS*
"Hiccup?" "Astrid?"
"It's nice to meet you Freya," Hiccup exclaimed as he shook her hand.
"Oh my Thor Blake!" I cried as I fell to the floor of my house, the door bursting open to reveal Hiccup wrapping his arms around me. Me then slamming the door and sliding down it.
"Astrid I'm sorry," Hiccup said as he hugged me at Blake's funeral.
"Friends?" "Friends," I exclaimed as we smiled short smiles and shook hands.
"You don't just do that!" I laughed and punched Hiccups shoulders.
"Fine! You always win!" Hiccup chuckled.
"Hiccy!" Freya squealed and jumps into Hiccups arms. "Hey pumpkin!" He would laugh.
"I love you Astrid Hofferson," Hiccup says and when that night he pinned me against the wall and carried me away to my room, where we made love.
"Hiccup! I got the job! I'm a detective!" I swayed and jumped into his arms, wrapping my legs around his waist.
"Astrid! Vice Principal Haddock is home!" Hiccup squealed and I ran and kissed him.
"Your your pregnant?" Hiccup asks me as I hesitated, But nodded. He scooped me up and twirled me around the room. Freya jumped into my arms.
"Go Freya go!" Hiccup cheered as we played softball on a hot summer day.
"Astrid hold on!" Hiccup cried as his hand left mine, in slow motion as I was taken to the ER after my accident.
"Blake Henry Haddock, that's his name," Hiccup gushed as I cried, he named my son after my dead husband. Freya hugged her brother and kissed him.
"Hiccup he's walking!" I screamed as Blake took his first steps, giggling and dashing into me and Hiccups arms. "You did it buddy!" Hiccup cheered, and our family of 4 laughed.
"Freya rip the ball!" Hiccup yelled, and she hit it past short stop. "Go baby go!" Hiccup yelled and Freya ran at her first softball game.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife!" The pastor said and me and Hiccup crushed our now married lips together.
"Hiccup stop carrying me into the water!" I say as he threw me over his shoulders in the Bahamas.
"Hiccup? Don't leave me," I cried as I held his hand in the emergency room after his amputated leg.
"I'm a burden," he said and I cupped his face. "Your not,"
"I love you daddy!" The kids exclaimed as we had long bombfires.
"Hiccup! I'm pregnant again!" I shrieked, holding the test as he scooped me up, all smiles.
"It's a girl!" We cried as we kissed, the pink smoke surrounding us.
"Mala Elise Haddock," I gushed at Mala and Hiccup, who immediately smiled and kissed me.
*FLASHBACKS END*
I winced at all the amazing memories, and blushed. "Hmm?" Hiccup croaked and I sat up. "Our amazing life, and it's all because of you, you saved me and Freya. Your my hero," I spoke out and hugged my 48-year old husband, who smiled and rubbed my back.
"Oh babe I love you," he says and I traced my fingers on his chest. "I love you too,"
The years after Malas birth went by fast. The kids went through their school years fast, and I soon had 3 adult kids. Freya is now 28, and a Journalist at Berk City Citizen. She got married 4 years ago to an amazing man named Evan, and they gave me 2 beautiful grandchildren, Stoick and Madison. Freya has always had an amazing life, and she visits with the kids often. Her high school years were all softball, and she was the all star pitcher, just like she dreamed to be long ago.
Blake was now 22, and a cop for Berk City Police Department. He was actually engaged to a gorgeous girl named Jordan, and I was expecting my third grandchild from them this March. Blake was the hottest and most popular guy in high school, playing football, baseball, and basketball. He always wanted to be a cop like his mom, and he did succeed, still being a mommy's boy.
Mala was 20, and extremely gorgeous as her older sister. She was studying to be a 1st grade teacher and has always loved kids. Mala has a boyfriend named Turner, and likes to focus on school, which me and Hiccup love about our youngest girl. She has always been Hiccups daughter, and a daddy's girl.
She was a basketball player and softball player in high school, and was the biggest catch.
My thoughts were interrupted when car doors slammed. I jumped out of Hiccups chest and looked up to see my whole family. Freya, Evan, Blake, Jordan, Stoick, Madison, Mala, and Turner.
"Aww my beautiful family!" I gasped and walked off the porch, hugging my professional dressed oldest daughter. "Hey mom." She says and held my waist. "Grandma! Grandpa!" Stoick and Madison cheered, running to me and Hiccup. They gave me the biggest hugs and kisses with so much love.
"My beauties!" I exclaimed and moved to Blake. "Mom," he smiled and wrapped his arms around me. "Buddy," I winked and he playfully hit my shoulder, hating that I called him that. "My youngest girl," I smiled and Mala came to me, with her auburn hair flying in the wind with her forest green eyes contacting with mine.
"Family night!" Freya squealed and ran into our home. Everyone followed and Hiccup put his arms around me as we followed them inside.
*A few hours later*
"Ok mom? What are you most happy for?" Freya asks and we all held hands. "Oh guys...I'm where to begin?" I sighed and took a deep breath. I remembered my thoughts from earlier and smiled.
"5 years," I say and they all looked at me blankly. "Um 5 years?" Blake asked me and I nodded. Hiccup gushed and quickly nodded, understanding me.
"5 years, when i was 23, your dad came back after 5 years," I began but Hiccup interrupted me. "5 Year Surprise is more like it," he muttered and I rolled my eyes.
"He cane back and gave me everything I could ever need. Happiness, joy, Freyas happiness, a father for Freya, more kids that make my day every single day of my whole life, marriage, a soulmate, tears and of course love," I said and sniffed. They all nodded and smiled.
"So I'm happy for 5 years," I say and they all smiled. "And I'm most happy for that too," Freya exclaimed. "Me too," Blake said and Mala after. Hiccup kissed my forehead.
5 years, just can't be more grateful that Hiccup came back. I can still remember the first time he came back.
*FLASHBACK*
"Hiccup?" I said, looking at someone I was despising to see. The young man spun around and gasped. "Astrid?"
*FLASHBACK ENDS*
And in that moment with my family gracefully eating, I knew that I had to be grateful for Hiccups 5 year return, and this story will last a lifetime, until one day, when I'm no more.
