Instinctively, Dava’s mouth closed on the straw and she started to sip the cool liquid.  Water had never tasted this good.  She hadn’t realized how thirsty she had been until she had taken those first few sips.

“Good girl,” the soft voice praised and the straw was removed from her mouth.  “Now, can you open up for me so I can give you these pain pills?”

She didn’t think about it.  She opened her mouth and felt the pill land on her tongue.  The straw was lifted to her mouth and she took another sip of the water to swallow it down.  The straw was gone again and she let out a mewling sigh.  The bed beside her dipped and she felt a new kind of warmth surround her.  She snuggled into the warmth and breathed deeply.  The scent that infiltrated her nose was becoming more familiar, the heat becoming overwhelming and her mind was just starting to float on its drug induced haze when it all hit her with just about as much impact as the accident she had been in earlier.

First, this was Adam talking to her.  How did he end up here and why was he so close to her?  Why was he taking care of her?  And why in the hell was he talking about giving her his blood?  Only mates shared blood and she couldn’t be his mate.  It just wasn’t possible.  It went against everything that she had ever learned about werewolf society.  He had to be playing a joke on her.  That’s what it was.  He must not be used to being rejected.  That was why he was being so nice to her.  It had to be.  She was probably the first person to ever tell him no and he wanted to save face.  He wanted to show her that no one said no to an Alpha’s son.

But then how did he find her?  Why did he bring her here?  He was at school when she left and had she only been dreaming when she thought the Alpha had been the one to save her?

Either way, she knew one thing.  She needed to get away from this guy and she needed to do it now.  He may be trying to act all sweet but she wasn’t stupid.  Even feeling like death, she still had a little bit of her common sense left.  There is only one reason a wolf of his status would want with a girl like her.  And she would fight him tooth and nail to prevent him from getting that one thing.  She wasn’t that type of girl.

She tried to pull her body away but between the drugs and his suffocating embrace, she couldn’t move.  She felt one of his hands begin to gently stoke her hair and wanted to scowl at the betraying purring noise that grumbled in her throat.  “That’s it baby.  Just rest now, I’m not going anywhere.  I promise.  From now on I’m going to take care of you.  I’m going to do my best to make you the happiest mate alive.”  She felt something warm press against her forehead and even in her fog filled brain she knew that he had kissed her.

He continued to talk to her but as the medicine began to work its magic and take away all the pain, his words started to slur and sound further and further away.  The only word that really stuck out in her mind was mate.  Adam must have really lost his mind if he thought she was going to fall for his empty promises just so that he could get her in his bed.  The guy was delusional.

She had long since quit trying to make her body move away from him.  It seemed to have a mind of its own anyway as it curled into his side, no matter how many times her brain shouted to do just the opposite.  She decided it was best to heal first anyway.  It wasn’t like she could do much in the state she was in.  Once she was healed, she would call him on his ruse.  She would tell him that he was crazy if he thought for one second that she would just fall into his bed.  If he was looking for someone to get cozy with then Blake was more his speed.  Didn’t she tell him that much?

Feeling better about her plan, Dava was content to let the drugs drop her off on cloud nine.  She would float while her body healed.  Yeah, she thought with a smile, floating was starting feeling pretty darn good right about now.
