I sat in my mom's car, not wanting to get out. I stared out at the window as tons of other kids walked into school. I looked back down at my lap and sighed. I felt my mom's hand on my shoulder, trying to comfort me. "We told the teachers to keep a good eye on you. No one is going to bother you okay?" my mom spoke, completely sure of herself. When I knew that was total bullshit.
I rolled my eyes and grabbed my bag, throwing it over my shoulder and opening the car door. I slammed it, not bothering to say goodbye to my mom. With each step I took, I dreaded getting out of the car as I got closer and closer. I kept my head down, really hoping not to be noticeable to anyone else. I let my dark, long hair hang over my face so I wouldn't be called out by anyone. Especially by a certain group of people.
I completely jinxed myself as I got to my locker and saw them standing just a few feet away as they chattered by their lockers. You think after the tons of complaints on how shitty they treat me that they would move my locker somewhere else far from the people that harass me every single day. I looked up once and that's when I saw him. Justin.
He was looking at me and I looked at him back. He gave me a small smile and I just nodded, turning my back to him as I opened my locker. I was praying that they wouldn't mess with me today. It was our first day back from winter break and I knew they wouldn't cut me any slack. I grabbed a couple of books and put them in my bag when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I paused and rolled my eyes, groaning inside.
I licked my lips and turned around to be faced with Satan's daughter, Sabrina. She shot me a smile as her minions stood by her side, Cassie and Angelique. Justin stood where he was when I looked up at him earlier as he talked with a couple of friends, although his eyes flickered towards me every once and a while. Sabrina smiled wider, catching all of my attention. Why the fuck was she so smiley about?
"Hey Mia." she said, her smile never leaving her face. I gave her an awkward look. "If your here to mes with me then save it. I'm not dealing with your bullshit anymore." I said bluntly as I turned my back on her and closed my locker. I heard her gasp as if she was offended. God I was not in the mood for this.
"I just wanted to invite you to my party tonight." she said, making me freeze. Why the hell was Sabrina Castro asking me to go to her party after she has bullied me ever since the first day of freshman year. I slowly turned around, giving her a look. She just kept the smile on her face and her minions kept a small smile on their faces. This was super sketchy.
"...Why?" I asked, completely puzzled and crossed my arms. She said and put her hand on my arm. I was really holding back from flicking her grip off me and pushing her. But I controlled myself and just stared at her. "I'm really sorry for everything I've done to you. I want to make it up to you". Something in my stomach was telling me not to trust her but for some weird reason... I gave in. I just slowly nodded and she threw me a big smile.
"Great. This is address, hope to see you there." she said, throwing me a wink as she walked off with her two little minions following behind her. I stared down at the piece of paper with her address and number on it. This was so weird. I looked up to lock eyes with Justin. He pulled his ear and I quickly noticed, pulling my ear. I turned on the heel of my boot going to my usual place during free period.
...
I sighed as I waited for him to walk through the door. I was in the library but my school library was huge. I wandered the whole thing one day to find a small room all the way in the back that held a record player, two desks and one shelf that had a bunch of old books on them. I always came here whenever I was having a bad day or when I needed to meet up with him. It was our little secret place.
