Berry looked at him for some time. How does he know that she was upset?
                          
"Nothing. I'm just tired that's all. Nothing that a hug couldn't solve", she replied.

"I'm sorry to call you in the middle of the day but I think we cannot delay this more"
                          
Berry was in her office when she got the call. She had come to visit Dr. Smith as soon as she got a call from her. 
                          
"What is it? Is there a problem with dad?"
                          
"We have found severe blockage in his arteries. We would need to operate soon"
                          
"Oh", Berry could not say anything more. Her mind had already started swirling with many possibilities.
                          
"We would need you to sign a consent form"
                          
"Will he be able to take it?", It was the one thing Berry was worried about most. Her father is not in good health already. Surgery is going to put him in a lot of stress.
                          
"We have one of the best heart surgeons here. He will be fine. Besides at this stage we have no other choice but to do this. If we don't this then we might as well wait for another stroke. And his body is not strong enough to take it again".
                          
"Okay Dr. Smith, whatever you think is best. I will sign the consent form".
                          
"Okay Miss Bloom. But there's one more thing. We already know he has basic health insurance. So you have to pay the fees for this surgery".
                          
"How much?", Berry asked.
                          
"Everything will amount to a total of ten thousand".
                          
"Ten thousand? How soon do I need to deposit this?"
                          
"As soon as you can. The surgery cannot be delayed further. I would suggest you to deposit within two days" 
                          
"I will arrange the money Dr. Smith. You please start preparing for the surgery".
                          
Berry walked out the hospital and sat on a bench in the hospital garden. Ten thousand dollars is a lot of money. But she needs to pay it as soon as she can. Obviously she doesn't have that much money. She will again have to ask grandpa for the money. She was really embarrassed that she will be asking him for the money again. She has just recently taken his money when it was needed for the tests her father had to go through. But right now her grandpa is the only person she can ask for money.
                          
But she wasn't sure if even he will be able to arrange such a large amount in a short notice. Her grandpa was also not rich. He is a physician. Berry could only hope that he have that much money with him.
                          
"How is my cherry berry?", her grandpa asked when she called him.
                          
"I'm fine grandpa. I'm sorry I'm disturbing you at your office time".
                          
"Oh no worries my angel. I am free right now. Tell me, what is the matter?"
                          
Berry told him about her father's surgery and the money that she need to deposit.
                          
"Ten thousand?", he exclaimed.
                          
"Yes and I need in within two days."
                          
"Oh Berry, I hate to say this but I would not be able to arrange the money. You know your Nona and I have started the renovation of our house last month so a major chunk of money is going in that. If you can maybe wait for next month then I'll be able to give you the money".
                          
"No grandpa I have to pay within two days".
                          
"Oh that's a problem. I would be able to arrange two maybe three grands. I'll transfer that money to your account. But I'm afraid that's all I can do. I'm really sorry Berry".
