Chapter 3

                                    

                                          
I slept that night the best that I had in ages. Last thing I saw of the film was when Katniss was being lifted into the arena, so I must've watched quite a bit of it. When I woke, Charlie's arm was round me and my head was in his arm/shoulder and he was on his phone. 
                          
"Happy Birthday Em," He smiled. 
                          
"Thank you," and he gave me a kiss. Next thing I know mum, dad, Melissa, Jordi, Joey, Ollie, Ryan and Andy came bursting into the lounge with presents and balloons! 
                          
"HAPPY 16th BIRTHDAY!" They all shouted. I couldn't help but smile. I can tell today will be great. I opened mum and dad's present first: a Pandora bracelet. OMG I couldn't believe it! I gave them a massive hug and thanked them. Then I opened Melissa and Jordi's joint present: a new school bag, the one that I saw in the shopping centre the other week that I really liked. I gave Jordi a hug and pulled Melissa onto my knee and gave her a cuddle.
                          
"How come I don't get one of those?" Jordi joked acting upset.
                          
"Because you're 19 and she's 3," I replied. Then the rest of Overload had bought me one, aw bless them. It's a new pair of Jordan's. I love them! I thanked them all. Then Charlie came and put a blind fold on me. 
                          
"I'll be right back," Charlie said. Then he was gone. What could he be doing? He had already got me my necklace, I had just assumed that that was my present. I heard him come downstairs and sit in front of me.
                          
"Hold out your hands..." So I did. And on the count of three dad took off my blindfold as Charlie placed in my hands the most beautiful Pandora ring ever. Wait... What does this mean...
                          
"Don't worry, it's not an engagement ring or anything. It's a promise ring. My promise to you that I'll always be here for you and with you because I love you so much,"
                          
"Charlie, I love it! Thank you so much," I gave him a big hug. Then there was a knock on the door... I went to answer it and it was Leo.
                          
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY Emily!" He yelled.
                          
"Thank you! Come in, everyone's in the lounge," I replied hugging him.
                          
"Leo mate," Charlie said give Leo a bro hug. Leo handed me my present and it was a £20 gift voucher for New Look; my favourite store.
                          
"Thank you so much Leo," I said. 
                          
"No problem," he answered. 
                          
This is officially the best birthday ever. Charlie, Leo and I went upstairs to my room to chill for a bit. I sat on Charlie's knee and he was playing with my fingers (twiddling with the promise ring whilst doing so) while Leo was busy on my spinning computer chair. 
                          
"So Emily..." Charlie started "I was thinking about taking you to a nice meal and the cinema tomorrow what do you think? I have an inset day on Tuesday so Blair said I can stay with him overnight."
                          
"I think that sounds perfect." I answered, playing with his hair at the front of his head. 
                          
"If we go out for our meal around 6? I'll pick you up from Dance at 5:15. Then  we can go see that new Sam Clafflin film Love Rosie. It's not out until October but the nearest Cineworld are doing a private screening of it at 8:30 as a one off," Charlie explained. 
                          
"Sounds amazing," And saying that I gave him a kiss. I couldn't wait now until tomorrow. 
                          
For the next few hours the three of us just hung out at the park and my house. We even called to see Blair (who gave me a £5 note for my birthday!) he was explaining to the boys how successful Hopeful was coming as it was released at mid night and it had already got to #4 in the iTunes Charts.
                          
"I'm so proud of you!" I said to Charlie. 
                          
"*cough**cough* What about me?" Leo whined. 
                          
"I'm so proud of you too Leo," I said which caused a laugh between the four of us. By the time we'd got back to mine, Charlie's mum had sent him a text saying that she was coming to pick him up to go back down to Bournemouth. I wish he didn't have to go but he can't help it I suppose. Even though I saw him almost every weekend, I still missed him through the week. It's hard having a boyfriend that lives 259 miles away as you see everyone at school being all couple-y and knowing that you have that but only on a weekend is weird to think about. 
                          
When Karen and Brooke came she brought me my card and I said thanks and picked Brooke up. The amount of times I've said thank you today is unbelievable! Charlie grabbed his stuff and put it by the front door. While Karen was talking to my mum and dad, I put Brooke down and she ran to Karen. Charlie put his hands on my waist and gave me a hug. I put my arms around his neck and my head in his neck. He rest his head on my head as Charlie's taller than me. 
                          
"I'll miss you, even though I'm seeing you tomorrow. Hope you have had the best birthday ever and I can't wait to pick you up after dancing tomorrow and go on our date," he whispered into my ear. 
                          
"Neither can I, I've had the best day," I replied. "I love you,"
                          
"I love you too," we both smiled. Then we kissed and he said bye to Leondre. 
                          
"Bye man, don't forget to finish the rap to Shining Star and I'll finish off the chorus, I'll text you when I'm done," Charlie said. 
                          
"Sounds good, sounds good. I'll miss ya man," Leo answered and they bro hugged with Charlie giving Leo's hair a ruffle.
                          
"Hey man! Watch the hair!" Leo exclaimed. Typical Leondre Antonio Devries ladies and gentlemen. After that Charlie went to put his stuff in the boot and get in the car as Karen and Brooke were getting in. One last kiss and hug then he got in the front seat and Leo and I were stood there waving him off.
                          
Not long after Leo had to go as it was getting late. Overload were staying all week. (yay, sarcastic tone intended).
