They had no choice but to put the five Paladins in the Pods immediately. Shiro and Coran had to lift all five Paladins from their Lions to a prepared healing pod... a long and exhausting process. And not to mention the groans and whimpers of pain they may make in response to movement.
The Pods had begun to act up when Coran (and an annoyed Lance) were cleaning them a second time. Coran noticed that they seemed to try and do more than just heal wounds, but he couldn't pinpoint what as it seemed to do nothing weird to the Paladins. Shiro advised to not try and use the Pods for long-term healing till the problem was found and fixed... but Keith, Lance, Allura, Pidge and Hunk's health and well... LIVES were at stake, so they prepared them quickly and placed each of them inside one.
"Let's just hope nothing bad happens to them."
And it's SPACE... ANYTHING can happen... including the sounds of crying and wailing from the Pods at 7:00 in the Space Morning.
----------------------------------------------------
Rushing from their rooms in the Castle, Shiro and Coran ran straight for the sounds and were stunned at the sight. Four baby humans and a baby altean were sitting in the spaces in front of their pods, still in their now smaller pod-suits. Another strange part, five streaks suddenly rushed past Shiro and Coran's heads, and straight for the little Paladins. When they cleared, the Lions of Voltron were circling or sitting next to their respective Paladin.
"What the quiz-"
"Before you say it, don't give them the wrong idea." Shiro interrupted Coran from saying 'Quiznak'. "And we need to get them out of here... NOW."
----------------------------------------------------
The Lions helped with that, by carrying their Paladin to the Lounge Area... somehow changing them into little cat onesies on the way (Allura pulled the hood over her eyes on the spot). Apparently the Space Mice came well prepared already, maybe their link to Allura had them know the situation beforehand. Holding each Paladin, one-by-one, Coran and Shiro had to bottle feed all five. When one was done, there was the beginning of Red's 'mother hen' behaviour over Lance and Keith.
Shiro kept a close eye on Red, but whenever another Lion or Paladin got remotely CLOSE to either of them, she'd launch herself full pelt (get it?) at them and shoo them away. Even the Black and Blue Lions couldn't get close. Trying to get Lance or Keith away from Red, by anyone, may have resulted in a little flame and a burn or bite... even a few claws. Not that Keith or Lance, right now, had any idea of what she was doing. Red was protective and determined to keep her Paladin, former and current, 'safe'.
Blue was a little more understanding of Red, and focused her efforts of care on Baby Allura. The baby princess would tug, chew and play with Blue's tail and paws... mostly the fluffy tail. Blue also had a small 'mane' of white fur around her neck that she'd like to bury herself in.
The Yellow Lion was trying to keep Hunk happy, while also keeping a close eye on his friends and the other Lions. She was always helping supply bottles, toys and diapers if needed. At least she didn't have to contend with Red for attention over one of the Paladins.
The Green Lion was just as perplexed at everything going on around her as Pidge, Shiro and Coran were. She was also coping with Pidge stroking, pulling, petting and hugging her. She eventually got the Lions attention.
And the Black Lion was, in vain, trying to get Red to calm down and stop being an over protective mother. That, and she wanted to check on Baby Keith, but Red wouldn't let her near him. Being the Leader, and contending with your second-in-command... it was kinda hard.
