"can you stop flirting?" the blonde student scorned, directing his disdain to the flamboyant male who was sitting right beside him.
jimin turned to him, a mock pout on his lips as he left his conversation with the female student hanging. "why? are you jealous?"
"i'm trying to concentrate and you're making a lot of noise." taehyung calmly explained, looking him right in the eye, "just because you don't care about your grades dosen't mean everyone else is like you."
you could tell he was trying hard to keep his cool from the way his lips were pressed firmly together. their finals were coming up and to his frustration, he didn't understand the topic his teacher was going through. he had been trying his best to listen to the explanation, but jimin's loud voice and the giggles of his conversation partner echoed through the classroom and grated on his ears relentlessly.
jimin's first thought was that taehyung looked breathtaking. eyebrows slightly furrowed, his eyes full of dancing lights framed his delicate nose. he knew that was beside the point, but that was all he could focus on, and he had to curl his fingers towards his palm to resist reaching out to touch him.
"what do you need help with?" jimin offered instead, much to taehyung's surprise. jimin wanting to help him was a far cry from the patronising remark he had expected.
"um-i..i doubt you would know anyway." taehyung mumbled, averting his gaze and turning back to the open textbook in front of him.
"try me." he challenged, standing up and shifting his chair closer to study the notes lying on the table.
doubtfully pointing to a question on the textbook, the tired student waited as jimin stared at it intently. he wrote his workings down in pencil, mouthing calculations to himself as he did. it was a fresh sight seeing as he was always either chatting or dozing off during lessons. taehyung had never seen him so focused before, and he honestly didn't even know it was possible.
within minutes, jimin had solved a problem sum that taehyung had been stuck with for days. pointing to his workings with the pencil, he patiently explained the rationale behind it to taehyung, occasionally reading his face to check if he understood.
needless to say, taehyung was shocked, and undeniably impressed. for someone who missed most of the lessons, jimin sure was smart.
"see, i'm so nice to you." he joked breathily, fingers lightly brushing against taehyung wrist.
before giving him a chance to react, he dragged his chair back to his seat. making himself comfortable, he crossed his arms on the table and rested his head on them before closing his eyes.
after pondering for a moment, taehyung decided to nudge jimin's arm. "why don't you want to pay attention? you're actually pretty good at this." he questioned, wondering if jimin would get good grades if he actually tried for his studies instead of constantly skipping lessons and not doing his homework.
"what's the point?"
"what do you mean? don't you want to score well for exams?"
"for what?" jimin spat, and taehyung was taken aback at how agitated he was. he knew he must have hit a nerve somehow, and he was curious and a even a little bit concerned as to what it was. but he knew it wasn't his place to ask, so he simply stayed quiet.
"stop bothering me." jimin warned, burying his head back in his hands.
"no one asked you to sit here." the indignant male huffed, re-focusing his attention on the board. he guessed it would be better if jimin was asleep anyway. at least there would be no noise disturbing him from concentrating.
seeing jimin doze off from the side of his eye, taehyung realised there was a lot he didn't know about him. he never saw jimin as mysterious due to how well-known he was in school, but when he actually thought about it, he didn't actually know anything about jimin's background. he didn't even know if he had any siblings. he guessed jimin wasn't as open as he appeared to be after all.
