Alexa's POV
"Mate," he says again, this time louder.
Ignoring the warmth, I push his arms away and take a few steps back.
"Um, I think you're confusing me with someone else buddy. I'll be eating now . . ." I say, a nervous smirk making its way to my face.
He gazes at me with warmth in his eyes, but they quickly turn hard. Grabbing me by the elbow, he drags me out the cafeteria, away from food.
"Hey! Dude, I'm gonna starve thanks to you," I yell, stomping my foot.
He scowls and suddenly stops, then pulls me into a janitor's closet.
"Oh, Jesus, this is so cliché. You should just leave me be." I say quickly.
"You're my mate," he says again with a scowl.
I huff in annoyance. "Okay! I get it, you've said it like 5 times now."
He growls lowly, but I don't cower back, instead, I look him straight in his beautiful, I mean ugly hazel eyes. Well, I had to crane my neck because he's like a giant compared to me.
"You don't scare me. And I don't want you." I say, poking his chest with my finger. He rolls his eyes and growls again.
"Good, because I don't want you either. What's your name?" He snaps, glaring at me.
"My name is Alexa Sanders, beautiful I know." I smirk, trying to hide the confusion in my voice. Why does he need to know my name? He doesn't want me.
" I, Tristan Jacobs, reject you, Alexa Sanders as my mate and Luna," he snarls. He turns around, leaving me with mixed emotions: confusion, sadness, and anger.
First of all, who the hell does this guy think he is to be rejecting me? I'm basically a goddess, no one rejects me. I'm just not used to it.
Way to go, Alexa, you totally don't sound like a self-centered bitch.
Second, how have I never seen him around school? I've had to of, I know everyone in school. Unless he's the new Alpha. Oh shit.
I've heard they're uber territorial and can't control emotions too well. I've also heard they are overprotective of their mates. Then why did he reject me? I'm not upset or anything, just wondering.
Acting as if nothing happened, I walk back to the cafeteria and get back into the line. Of course there is no good food left and I can't help but blame jerk face for that. I grudgingly walk over to the table I spot my friends sitting at.
"There's no good food left," I whine to Travis, a good friend of mine.
"Sucks to suck. Guess you'll have to starve." He smirks, about to put his pizza into his mouth.
"You should give me your food," I tell him, staring at the pizza. We only had fifteen minutes left of lunch.
He eyes his uneaten pizza and looks back at me with a thoughtful expression and for a second, I'm hopeful.
"Nah." He laughs, and Kase laughs with him.
"Just give it to her, or she'll just take it. Trust me," Kase laughs, looking up at me. I muster up the best glare I can.
"Let's not and say we did. I like my food, sorry not sorry." he says with a smirk. He slowly picks up his pizza again, and just as he's about to take a bite, I snatch it and run off laughing in victory.
"This is heavenly, thanks Trav!" I moan, taking a bite of the pizza. He jumps up and immediately starts chasing me. He backs me up into a corner.
"I got you cornered now," he says menacingly, glancing at the pizza.
The cafeteria is vibrating with laughter as I take a slow, tantalizing bite of pizza. I moan and close my eyes, which was a mistake. Travis jumps on me, knocking me to the ground. My head doesn't hit the ground that hard, which I'm glad because what good does a concussion do?
He takes a bite of the other end of the pizza, our lips inches apart. We have no romantic feelings for each other, just close friendship. He winks down at me and I give him a smirk.
Suddenly, he's ripped away from me and I'm yanked back onto my feet. I'm just about to cuss someone out when I see who it is. Jerk face, my asshole mate. The nerve of this guy, can you believe it?
I yank my hand out of his grip and glare hard at him.
"Excuse me, what exactly are you doing?" I snap, running my fingers through my hair I roll my eyes at Tristan. He growls lowly and storms off.
"Wow, he's got a lot of strength" Travis says, forcing a laugh. He's one tough guy. If someone were to throw me like that, I'd be dead.
"Yeah, come on, get up," I mutter, straining to help him to his feet. Trey comes to help me lift Travis up. For being pretty short, he was a heavy guy.
By the time we get him to the table, it's time for class. Oh joy.
