Skylar.

I watched my parents cuddle into the couch together- holding each other as they slept.

I sat criss cross in the bed, so hot I was close to sweating.

I focused to the tv, trying to get my mind off of how hot I was so maybe I could sleep- but that plan failed.

I sighed just as the door opened- Calum and Ashton entering with surprised faces.

"I expected you to be sleeping and them to be wide awake." Calum smiled.

"It's too hot to sleep" I spoke quietly.

His hand went to my forehead.

"Your fever broke- that's why you're so clammy." He dismisses quietly, sitting on my bed with me, Ashton sitting on the other side, both looking to me.

"It's late- what time do you guys get off?" I asked, looking to the clock on the wall, seeing that it was almost past nine pm.

"We just clocked out- we're waiting on our roommates to finish with their patients so we can go." Ashton spoke quietly, making me nod slowly.
"You feeling okay, other than being hot?" Calum asked, his hand moving to rub my shoulder gently.

"Yeah- yeah- I'm fine" I dismissed slowly, giving him a small smile.

Ashton went to the thermostat- thankfully turning it down for me.

"I'll tell a nurse to come turn it up once you fall asleep" ash spoke

"Thank you" I spoke, making him nod with a smile.

"Are you nervous for anything? Have any questions?" Calum asked.

I had so many questions, but my questions made me want to cry- and that wasn't something I wanted them to see.

"Not right now" I spoke simply, seeing him smile.

"Most teenagers don't stop asking questions- you haven't even asked one" He spoke, making me shrug.

"I'll ask as we go"

Soon a blonde with curly hair entered- a shorter haired blonde followed behind, eyes glued to his phone.

"Sorry to interrupt" the first blonde smiled once his eyes met me.

"We aren't talking about anything important- I was just asking if she had any questions. Calum spoke, looking to me.

"Those are my other two roommates, Luke and Michael, you'll see lots of them too" Calum laughed lightly.

"Guys this is Skylar" Ashton spoke, making me smile to the two males who did the same back.
"Do you need anything before we go?" Ashton questioned slowly

"No- thank you, I think I'm okay" I nodded.

"You sure- we'll bring you food if you want-" "I'm positive, thank you- but go to bed" I smiled to Calum, seeing him smile as he stood.

"Same to you, stop fighting that medicine or you'll get dizzy- I'll see you in the morning" he spoke, walking towards the door.

"Night Skylar" I heard Ashton's voice say, preceding in multiple "night"s from the other boys.

"Goodnight" I spoke before the door was pulled and they were no longer there

I say in the silence for a few seconds, looking to my sleeping parents

I thought about how lonely I felt just in this moment, and that scared me

Imagine how lonely I'm going to feel tomorrow night, when there's no one but myself in here.
