Alex's POV:
"So... I guess this is good bye, right?" Izzy asked, shifting uncomfortably in her spot.
"Come on, Alex! Hurry up! We ain't got all day!" Mark yelled from the distance, honking his car.
"I guess, Izzy" I replied, staring down at my feet. I could still feel the awkwardness that the kiss from the day before had left on us, and I could also sense Izzy's resentment towards me, but I still couldn't leave without giving her one last hug. "But, hey, we'll still see each other. I mean... not every day, but... whenever I have some spare time I'll make sure to pay you a visit"
"Oh, cool" Izzy mumbled, folding her arms over her chest. "As long as you don't get all caught up in fame and forget about me"
"Come on, Iz!" I chuckled, slightly punching her arm. "You know that won't happen"
"Yeah, it's kind of hard to believe it when you literally told me you were moving to a different country just a day ago"
"Iz..." I shamefully trailed off, scratching the back of my neck. "I couldn't tell you, I'm sorry"
"Yeah, whatever" Izzy dismissed. "Anyways... good luck, I suppose. I'm sure you won't need it, but still"
"Thanks, Izzy" I faintly smiled at her. "Uhh..." I stuttered, doubtfully leaning closer to her to get her into a hug. It'd never been so weird between us, but still, here we were, quickly letting go of the other as if that embrace could burn.
"You should go now" Izzy whimpered, looking away from me.
"Iz" I called, taking a hand to one of her cheeks. "I'm going to miss you"
"Leave, please" Izzy pleaded, just as I saw a tear rolling down her face. "Don't make this harder than it already is"
"I don't want to leave you like this, Izzy"
"Come on, man! You're going to be famous and shit! I would be dying to rush to that car if I was you!"
"Iz, I don't even know if all of this is going to work" I shrugged.
"Of course it will!" Izzy encouraged me. "You're all so good at what you do!"
"Yeah, it's not as easy as it sounds"
"Come on, don't worry. You'll do just fine"
"Thanks, Izzy"
"Come on, Alex!" Mark shouted once again.
"Fuck, I think I'm beginning to hate that bloke" I complained, making Izzy giggle under her breath.
"Go" Izzy urged me, just as I nodded in agreement.
"Before I leave, Iz, I just wanted to tell you something" This was it, this was my moment. They were just three words: I love you. I love you, Izzy. Just say it, you stupid idiot!
"What?"
"Speak and stand up for yourself, mardy" I smirked at her, taking her hands in mine. I cursed at myself for flaking once more, just like I'd been doing for the last ten years of my life. Was I ever going to confess to her, for fuck's sake? At least I came up with something good in its replacement, right? In fact, my biggest concern was who was going to take care of Izzy once I was gone. I feared she might never be able to learn how to ignore people's stupid comments, and I doubted there could ever be someone that would look after her more than I would. "Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, okay? You're beautiful, Izzy, just like this"
