"It took you sometime to figure it out, didn't it?"
Y/N clenched her empty hand beside her. Why? Why was he doing this to her? If it hadn't been for Midoriya's comment earlier she would have never thought about the possibility of Chisaki buying her a spot in UA.
"Why?" Y/N croaked out. Her throat felt thick. She had believed that her hard work had paid off. That she'd finally been able to do something on her own. Why was it that everytime she felt like she'd jumped up a level, he would take her and completely tear her back down—the foundation of her hopes and future completely obliterated right in front of her.
"Why?" Chisaki's deep voice seemed to cut right through her. "Don't you mean 'thank you?' Without me you would've instantly been rejected."
"You made me believe—"
"I didn't make you believe in anything. You were simply idiotically naive to believe that a prestigious school like UA would want you simply based on your application."
"And the money—"
"Something called 'charity,'" Chisaki sighed, like Y/N was the biggest pest in the world and he couldn't wait to get rid of her. "I had money to waste. A simple 'thank you' will suffice."
"Thank you?" Y/N screeched incredulously, for a moment forgetting who she was speaking to. "Why would I thank you? You lied to me! You're a—"
"—I'm not in the mood for this." Chisaki cut her off. "Don't fucking act like you have the right to speak to me anyway you want, especially when you neglected your duties."
"W-What?"
"My businesses trip ended early and I come home to an empty fridge and an empty apartment. I was under the impression that my dearest daughter would be early today, so I could surprise her."
Y/N felt her blood go cold as a chill went down her spine. He wasn't supposed to be back until Friday.
"I—"
"Get fucking back here, now."
The line went dead.
...
Having called Chisaki on its own had been a risk—yelling at him had been a death sentence. Opening the apartment door, Y/N clutched her backpack straps tight as she closed it behind her. The only lights that were on were the ones from the hallway and the kitchen. The living room was dark, but even with no light, Y/N could make out Chisaki's silhouette lounging in his disgusting brown chair.
Y/N knew better than to speak. She'd gotten herself into this mess. Why? Why? Why was she so easily influenced by her own emotions?
"So," Chisaki's deep voice chilled her to the bone. "How'd you figure it out?"
"I heard from someone at school that I was too easily let in to UA," Y/N lied—she couldn't drag her friends into her problems. Could she even call them her friends? She shook the thought from her head. It wasn't the time for her to think about that. She had to choose her next words carefully. "And I realized they were right. Someone doesn't get into UA without someone vouching for them or buying their spot into the university."
"And that gave you what kind of right?" Even in the darkness, Y/N could feel the menacing aura coming from Chisaki. "To yell at me? To behave in any matter you want?"
Y/N kept her mouth closed. His heavy footsteps echoed around the apartment as he stood from his seat and sauntered his way towards her. She always knew Chisaki was tall and had great finesse, but in the blue lights from the television in the living room, he looked even more menacing as he towered over her.
"I'm the reason you're in that school," He grabbed her wrist and tugged her forward. "I'm the reason you can eat," He grabbed her other wrist harshly. Y/N gritted her teeth. "Do you even know what I had to go through to get you into that damn school? You should be on your knees in gratefulness! If it weren't for me, you'd still be stuck in a stupid foster home without a single penny in your pockets!"
Chisaki pushed her against the wall that separated the kitchen and the living room. Y/N bit her lip from crying out loud—she knew it would only make things worse. Chisaki didn't like it when she made any noise—the neighbors would start asking questions if they heard her scream.
"You honestly believed that UA would take someone in like you?" Chisaki laughed harshly as he let one of her wrist go and instead clutched both her cheeks together with his thumb and forefinger. "You must be insane or extremely stupid." He paused. "What did you call me over the phone? A liar?"
"I'm sorry—"
SLAP!
Y/N yelped as her face forcefully rechochated to the right, the sting of Chisaki's hand on her left cheek. She didn't have time to recollect herself before she was met with another slap on the other cheek. Her eyes watered from the pain, but she closed her eyes and swallowed. It'll be over soon, she thought. Just don't speak. Behave, you got yourself into this.
"Do you even know what it's like having you around?" By the sound of his slurred words and the smell of his breath against her cheek, Y/N could tell he'd been drinking. Something must've gone insanely wrong at work for him to drink.
Even if he was a bastard, Chisaki never liked losing control—he was always on top of things. Like making sure to only leave bruises were they wouldn't be noticeable. So, when he grasped her arms and threw her on the floor, Y/N knew he had lost all control.
"For fucks sake," Chisaki cried in anger. "Everyone is so fucking ungrateful." He kicked Y/N, but she was able to bring her arm up in time for him not to hit her in the stomach. She cried out when he picked her up by the hair.
"You should know by now that I own you," Chisaki growled at her. "You being at UA is my way of keeping you as far away from me as I can—so take advantage of it while you still can. I can easily revoke my offer." He let her drop back on the ground like a rag doll. Only when she heard his footsteps depart the living room did she whimper and groan in pain.
She sat up, and was instantly hit by a wave of nausea and pain. As she crawled to her backpack, she couldn't help but feel disgusted by herself. Why had she lost control so easily? She couldn't help but blame herself. Her jealousy had stirred up all her emotions and made her feel empowered for a second, only to be brought down instantly by reality.
As she leaned against the door, she glanced down at her phone. There was a message from an unknown number.
From: Unknown
11:04: Hi, Y/N! It's Uraraka. I got your number from Todoroki and just wanted to make sure you'd made it home safely. I hope we can all hang out again! Make sure to tell your dad hi for us and that we're sorry that we kept you out so late!
That's when the first round of tears started sliding down her red cheeks. She had to cup her mouth to silence her sobbing in fear that Chisaki would hear her and come back for round two.
She limped to her room, and only then did she slide down the door and let out silent sobs. She hugged her knees close to her body and cried.
