"Mom, I need to borrow your car." He grabbed her car keys off the kitchen counter.
"You're heading out?" She looked up in surprise. "What about Kirishima?"
That was a good question. One that he didn't really have time to think about it. He dug through the bag from the hospital, finding his hero gear, and putting it on. Thankfully, at some point his mom or dad must have gotten a replacement for the boot that was destroyed at the convenience store. As he left the house a few minutes later, the front door bumped into Kirishima.
Kirishima scrambled to his feet and swept Bakugo up in a desperate hug. Bakugo closed his eyes for a moment, absorbing the heat coming off Kirishima's body and breathing in Kirishima's ecstatic pheromones. He felt whole for the first time in days. The alpha trembled, rubbing his face into Bakugo's hair, taking greedy inhalations. Kisses rained across his face and fingers tenderly rubbed across the bite mark on the back of his neck.
"Let go of me, Kirishima," Bakugo said finally, and struggled to push the larger man away.
"No. Don't go." His arms tightened. "Let someone else take care of those villains."
"It's them, the ones that did this to me."
"I don't care." Kirishima's voice was steely. "Stay with me. I'll be more careful. Don't leave." A sliver of vulnerability entered his voice.
Bakugo looked up at Kirishima. "You know I have to go. I have to at least try to get turned back or I'll always regret it, I'll always wonder if this is how my life should be. Besides, once I'm back to normal and our mate bond is broken you will go back to normal, too. You won't feel this way anymore."
Kirishima's face was a chalky white, making him look sick. "That's not true."
Bakugo gave a harder push and managed to slip out of his arms. Kirishima was weaker than normal right now, most likely because of their separation. Bakugo raised a gauntlet threateningly as Kirishima started toward him again. He froze, his hardening quirk rippling up and down his body in preparation of a fight.
Just as he was about to climb into his mom's car he looked at Kirishima. "Sorry." Sorry for so many things. He took aim and sent one huge blast at Kirishima's SUV, sending the car up in flames.
He left in his mom's silver sedan, hearing Kirishima shout something after him that he couldn't quite make out. Bakugo saw him in the rearview mirror trying to run after the car for a little bit, but speed was never his strong suit and the alpha soon gave up with a helpless in his eyes. It hurt to see Kirishima so upset.
The house that the villains were in was a couple miles away. Police and Commission officers surrounded the house. Bakugo parked the car a block away and jogged on foot to the scene. Recognizing him, they nodded politely as he listened to them talk about the situation inside the house. It was just the two villains, and the alpha man had a gun tucked into his pants' belt. The hostages were a man and woman and their son, who was probably about 8 years old. They were held in the back of the house in the kitchen. The omega woman primarily watched the hostages while the man roamed between the living room and kitchen, waving his glowing red fists occasionally when he passed by a window, demonstrating the power of his quirk.
"We need to get the hostages out, they are our number one priority," a Commission officer stated.
"But we've already tried to negotiate with them. They're completely unwilling to work with us," a police officer said.
"The longer this takes, the statistically higher it is that they'll start killing hostages," the Commission officer warned.
The thought that a kid could get hurt or killed was completely out of the question. "Fuck this. Here's the plan," Bakugo interrupted and everyone looked at him. "I want several heavily armed officers hiding around the back of the house, avoiding being seen at all costs. Stay away from windows and doors. I'll distract the villains, drawing them to the front of the house. They know me, I've run into them before. Once they're both spotted in the living room, radio the rear unit. They'll sneak in and rescue the hostages."
