they'd been trying to sleep for a few hours now. the girls separated into bedrooms after the whole gabbie and kay ordeal. still, none of the girls knew what was up between the two, though kay had been acting strangely the whole night.
ariana shifted in her bed, struggling to sleep like she had been for days now, maybe even weeks. she'd never been good with time. not to mention that sleeping was even more tough when your thought-to-be boy best friend's girlfriend was right next to you.
kay seemed to be sleeping with no problem, but to ariana the whole situation was just awkward. why would her friends put her in the same room as kay? ariana didn't have a problem with kay, per-say, but it certainly wasn't an ideal situation.
sierra got to room with christina, while gabbie and tate slept in the living room on the furniture, but ariana got to room with kay. this just seemed unfair.
a long sigh could be heard from the mattress slightly below ariana. kay was been sleeping on it. it was surprising that she might've still been awake.
"ariana, we need to talk."
ariana's eyebrows pulled together in confusion as her heart picked up. was it about zach? there was nothing else kay and her really had to talk about.
as the mattress below kay squeaked from her weight shifting, ariana sat up too. the girls faced each other, ariana a bit higher than kay.
kay looked disheveled and upset, almost like she'd been crying earlier. it made ariana feel a shred of sympathy for the girl, despite the overtaking emotions of envy.
"whats up?" ariana asked quietly, after a few seconds of silence.
kay rubbed her face with her hands. it was obvious that she didn't know how to properly form her next words.
"zach and i are going to break up."
