"Hell no!" I shouted at Chaos.
He flashed me a look of disappointment. "You're going to have to get over it eventually, Commander. I warned you years ago you would have to face your past again one day."
Chaos knew about what happened with the gods. What happened with the camp. He supported me through all of it. Giving tips on how to calm down from a panic attack. He acted more like a father than Poseidon ever did. He saw me go through everything and still wanted me to go back?
"Put your issues with past to the side, for now, Perseus." Chaos said when he could tell I was going to run away from my problems again. He never used my real name unless he was pissed off or serious. "You swore on your life you would protect the innocent, don't let this one thing prevent you from fulfilling your duty. In fact, chances are the people from your past have retired now."
"Retired?" I questioned, remembering how long I've been working for Chaos. "I don't mean to fault you for not knowing, but it's been 150 years. No regular mortal can live for that long. They're dead."
She's dead.
"Chaos years," Chaos began gently. "You see, there is a reason you only appear to be in your thirties even though you've lived for a hundred and sixty-seven years. Your body ages the same way the people of Earth's do. Ten years on this planet is only one for them."
I stared blankly at him, letting his words marinate in my brain.
"So," I started, my expression still blank. "I've only been gone for fifteen years?"
Chaos thought for a moment. He never understood math. Math was mainly an Earth thing. Reading and literature, however, were more up his ally.
"It would appear so, yes." He answered.
I threw my arms over my head, my calm exterior I held as the Commander melting away to expose the scared 17-year-old hidden underneath. "All the more reason I shouldn't go! My cover will be blown. Chiron never throws away pictures. Surely someone will recognize me. It doesn't help that the gods want me dead."
"They lifted the banishment a year after you went into hiding." Chaos countered
"Yeah, a year." I scoffed. "I fought for them for years. My whole life was practically a toy for them to play with. But of course, everyone gets bored with their toys eventually and they get rid of them. Even my own father abandoned me."
"I'm done fighting with you about this." Chaos decided. "You made an oath that you would protect the innocent. As for your identities, wear your cloaks. Situations like these are the reason I made them. Also, use your code names. You or any of the elite may reveal yourselves."
"Like Hades, that's going to happen," I mumbled under my breath.
Chaos exhaled deeply. "I get you're upset, but they need your army's help. If the threat wasn't so big, I would've sent the Beta or Gamma team. Please, Percy. I promise if the memories become too intense you can come home."
I thought about it for a moment. As Chaos said, the people I knew were most likely retired. Maybe even dead. And my mom, I never forgot about her. She deserved to know where I've been. Thalia too. They probably had their own ideas of what happened to me. As much as I hated to admit it, I hurt people too. Innocent people who didn't deserve the heartbreak of my actions.
"Fine," I managed out. Chaos's lips turned up into a grin. "Who's the threat?"

Disclaimer: Sadly, none of these AMAZHANG characters belong to me. They belong to the amazing author *cough* and troll *cough* of HOO and PJO, Rick Riordan.
(By this point, everyone should know I don't own PJO or HOO. So, I'm going to stop doing disclaimers since no one reads them anyway.)
