A/N: How about a double?

Melissa's POV

Once I had the phone call from Hannah that Kirstie had a seizure at school, I was worried all afternoon about what state she would be in when I picked her up. Hannah also told me that she had phoned Gemma and informed her about the medical side of the seizure, and the fact she was concerned about the lack of movement Kirstie had afterwards. After I spoke to Hannah, I called Gemma and arranged for her to come over after I had picked the kids up from school.

The same way I had that morning, I went to the twins' class to pick them up. I knew that the kids would come here. Kevin always went oldest to youngest before coming to the car. It saved the little ones from wandering all over the school.

"Hi Melissa." Hannah said when she saw me.

"Hey Hannah. How is she?" I asked.

"Very sleepy, confused and still quite weak." She said taking me to the nap corner, where Kirstie was curled on her side with Mitch right next to her.

"Hi Mummy." He said quietly. He was happy to see me, but he didn't want to disturb Kirstie too much.

"Hey baby boy. You protecting your sister?" He smiled wide and nodded, keeping his hand on Kirstie's head for some contact. Good boy. He knew she needed some form of touch for a while after a seizure. It helped to keep her calm and grounded, and lessened the chance of another seizure. We waited for a few minutes and then Kevin, Avi and Scott came in.

"Mum? Why are you he... Kirstie?!" Kevin said. The three boys ran over to us and knelt down by their sister, having no idea what had happened to her.

"Is she okay?" Avi asked.

"She had a seizure." I said. "Just needs some help at the moment. Gemma's coming round to check on her when we get home. Let's go." Avi, Scott and Mitch grabbed all the bags whilst Kevin gently wrapped his arms around Kirstie and lifted her slowly. He had her cradled to him, so she wasn't in any danger of getting more injuries.

"Thank you for taking care of her." I said to Hannah.

"It's no problem. She is such a sweetheart." Hannah said with a smile. "Let me know if she's going to be in tomorrow." I nodded and then ushered the kids out the door.

Once Kevin had put her in her car seat, I carefully strapped her in and took in her current state. It was just like the day we found out she had meningitis. She had no strength to do anything.

Gemma arrived a few minutes after we got home and was checking Kirstie over very quickly. Matt was dropped off by Faith as I had called earlier and told her what happened, so she knew I would have to focus on Kirstie and it would be easier if she dropped Matt home for me.

"Melissa." Gemma called.

"Yes?"

"From the initial check it looks to be temporary paralysis. From the conversation I had with Hannah, it was a pretty long and intense seizure. On some occasions, especially in Kirstie's case, a bad seizure can cause some short-term paralysis. I'd like to take some blood samples just to be sure no other side effects have come up."

"Paralyis?!"

"Yes, but it is temporary. She can still twitch all of her muscles and extremities, so with some physical therapy it will go away."

"Oh okay. Go ahead with the blood tests."

I held Kirstie's hand whilst Gemma took some blood to have tested. Kirstie was either too out of it to care, or was just being a trooper through the whole thing.
