Lance's POV

Where was I? It was dark, and cold. Nothing except inky blackness surrounded me for miles. I could see anything. Was this death? Why do I feel so cold? Am I unconscious? My body feels like it's on fire too, my veins struggle to maintain themselves.

No, I was alive, barely.

I opened my eyes slowly. My head was pounding.

I was laying on the cold cave floor on my back. Keith wasn't near me as far as I could tell. My eyes were hazy and my body ached. My hearing was caught by the sound of sobbing.

Heartbreaking cries came from the entrance of the cave.

"K-Keith..." My voice was so low, it hurt so much to talk.

I heard a shuffle and then two hands cup my face gently. I tried to focus my eyes, they took their time.

"Lance!?" He cried out.

"W-why are you crying?" I looked at him with a soft expression.

"I thought I killed you! I thought I stopped too late! You-you're heart!" Tears poured from his eyes, "it stopped beating!"

It took a moment for me to absorb what I heard, mainly because of the ringing in my ears. "Keith..." my voice was soft but I knew he heard me, "it's okay."

"Lance, what I did was not okay, you could have died! You hear me! Died! I thought I lost you..." his cries filled the air, "please stop trying to talk, you need to save your energy. I'll be right back."

I closed my eyes agreeably. I felt his hands leave my face. Then I was alone, I couldn't even try to get up, much less chase after him.

A few minutes passed and Keith was back. I opened my eyes, still laying on the cold cave floor and watched him with unfixed eyes. He had lots of wood I think, and he threw them into a pile. Soon lightning a fire for warmth.

Keith carefully picked me up, I yelped in agony but didn't resist. I was placed back in Keith's lap as I leaned my head on Keith's chest. He bundled us up in a thick blanket. He must have went to the camp cite and got them.

"Are you getting warmer?" He kissed the top of my head softly.

I nodded weakly.

"Please eat something, here." Keith handed me a granola bar. "I got it at the nearest convenient store ten miles away, they didn't have much, but I have more." He opened it and fed me himself. I was too weak to keep my eyes open but I ate.

"I'm so sorry, Lance, I never meant to hurt you." He said sadly, "you deserved much better than a monster like me."

"Y-you're wrong..." I choked out.

"Please don't talk."

"You're not a monster... Keith..." my vision grew darker and I was drifting back to sleep. "I don't care if you are, I don't want to be with anyone else..."

"Rest, please. Goodnight." Keith said as I closed my eyes and went to sleep to the sound of the fire, surrounded by its warmth.
