Astrid followed Hilda through the gloom until they reached an area with slightly fewer dragons. Hilda was shaking with terror every time a dragon looked at her while Astrid was looking intently for a dragon to train.

Eventually, the pair reached Hilda's "camp," it was really just a couple of blankets on the ground, but Astrid wasn't going to complain. "So," Hilda began, "What's your story? And how are you not terrified of being on a ship with almost a hundred dragons!?"

Astrid laughed, "It's a really really long story - are you sure you want to hear it?" She looked around, "Then again, we're going to be here a while I suppose." So, she began from the beginning.

She explained about the dragons raids, how she learned that the dragons were not what she had been brought up to believe they were. How Hiccup and the other Riders had defeated the Red Death, how the Edge had come to be, the war with Viggo and Johann. Defeating Drago, and then everything leading up to where she was now.

"Wow," Hilda said, when Astrid was done, "You've had a much more interesting life than me!"

Astrid pulled a face, " 'Interesting' is one way to put it - particularly if the twins are involved! But enough about me, what's your story?"

Hilda took a deep breath, and began her tale.

She had been born into the Tribe of the Whispering Trees - a small, peaceful tribe who thrived on trade, much like Berk. She had grown up in a loving family, had a little brother and sister, a man who she loved - and was in fact engaged to - and everything had seemed to be perfect - well, except for the wild dragons that were everywhere. Until Grimmel showed up at their island six months ago, decimated their people, killed her parents and her sister and captured her.

When she had finished, there was a heavy silence. It was Astrid who broke it.

"Do you have any idea why Grimmel attacked your home?"

Hilda shook her head, "No idea at all - he showed up out of nowhere, after all of our patrols had come back clear, practically destroyed the village, captured me, and then when he questioned me he said something about wanting to know the location of the last Night Fury - I didn't even know they existed!."

Astrid gasped, "Hiccup! Toothless! No no no no no no no no..." she trailed off.

Hilda looked at her quizzically, "Hiccup's the guy you're married to, right?"

Astrid nodded, "Not just that. Hiccup is the Chief of Berk, the Dragon Master, Founder of the Berk Dragon Training Academy, my long-time love, and yes, now he is my husband. He is probably the most wanted person in or outside the Archipelago. And Toothless is his dragon. A Night Fury. THE Night Fury. The only one left. And if Grimmel finds out where they are, he'll..." She let out a sob as her head battled to deal with the possibility that she could lose Hiccup.

She pulled herself together. She had to deal with this, and she knew that Hiccup would never want her to just give up. She looked at Hilda.

"Do you know where we're being taken?"

Hilda nodded, "Yes, I overheard some of the guards talking when they topped up the water a few days ago. They said that Grimmel should be returning to his base soon."

"His base?"

"Apparently he has an island far to the South-West, where he keeps all of his dragons. And his prisoners."

"So, any idea on when we arrive?"

"Nope. Just gonna have to go with it I'm afraid."

Astrid was looking at Hilda with a small, mischievious smile on her face. If Hiccup had been there, he would have turned and run - he had seen that smile before. but Hilda was not as wise as Hiccup, and she made the mistake of asking, "What does that look mean?"

Astrid smirked at her.

"We, are going to get you a dragon, Hilda."
