I was sat in Shawn's couch playing candy crush on my phone with my legs hanging off the edge of the couch. Shawn was working at his desk while I was bored but he wouldn't let me leave.
"Valery I have a question if you don't mind?" Shawn says and I lift my head up.
"Sure what's up" I say and he sighs spinning around in his chair to face me.
"You know you were saying about your family and brother?" He says and I nod.
"Why didn't your dad do anything? He could have stopped your brother from going into gangs?" Shawn says and my eyes widen at the mention of my dad. I don't even think he deserved the title.
"Well if he was around. After my little brother was born, he had changed. I don't even know what got into him, he blamed it in work stress apparently. He would fight with my mom constantly almost all the time. Then he left one night and never returned. My mom didn't tell us what happened and continued like everything was fine, but we all were distraught at that fact my dad had disappeared out of our lives but..." I took a deep breath and Shawn quickly can and sat beside me, holding me.
"She broke down one day and I was 13 at the time, it had been two years since my dad had left. She told me and my older brother what actually happened. My dad was cheating on my mom, he had been for a year but she couldn't let him go because my little brother was on the way. Then after he left our family was struggling financially. Which led my brother into the drug world" I say with a sigh thinking back and my horrible life.
"I haven't even see my dad in almost eleven years. This is why I absolutely hate deceiving people like liars and cheaters. Because not only did my dad cheat on my mom, but he cheated and betrayed his family. I was extremely hurt and I never understood why he did it? My mom was the greatest person ever" I say with a tear spilling down my cheek and Shawn frowned before wiping my eye.
"Life has been hard but no matter how hard it's been, I managed to pull myself together" I say and Shawn pulls me into his chest trying to calm me down.
"I'm so sorry Valery, you didn't deserve any of this really" he says kissing the top of my head and I took a few breath.
I need to push the horrible memories back and just forget.
I'm strong. I repeated in my head.
"I'm fine" I say sitting up and wiping my eyes before giving Shawn a smile.
"Your nose is red again" he laughs and I cross my eyes to look at my red nose making him laugh.
"Little Rudolph" he smirks and I gasp pretending to be offend and he just places a kiss on my nose.
"Actually I don't mind being Rudolph, I get to be Santa's reindeer" I say proudly and he raises his eyebrow at me.
"You know Santa is not real, right" he says and I gasp.
"What? He's not real! Oh my God, my childhood has been a lie" I say sarcastically over-exaggerating my acting which made him laugh. We sat laughing for a few minutes before Shawn's computer beeped making him groan. He kissed my cheek before going back to his desk.

I laid back on the couch trying to finish level 43 on candy crush. I had to beat it today because Zack was also on level 43 and we agreed who ever passes the level, the other one has to buy food. So I was going to win and make sure Zack brought me some Taco Bell.
Shawn's office door opened with on his employees coming in. They we talking quietly between themselves before I heard a loud thud making me jump. "I want them done by 2 o'clock or I'm going to fucking fire you" Shawn yells at the scared guy.
