Drew sits on her bed, facing the window as she watches the rain fall. She half hugs one of her knees while her chin rests in the other, her eyes fixed on the window. She's struggling to process this... News... She's struggling to comprehend what her boyfriend is.
Of course it's obvious - he's a vampire.
He's 111 years old.
His family are all supernatural beings with powers and shit.
And she is uncontrollably in love with him. As much as she wants to run, to throw him out and tell him to leave her be, she can't. She loves him so deeply.
"I love you too." He says softly as he leans in the doorway, a mug in his hand.
Drew jumps and looks over in shock; she didn't say that out loud... Edward taps his forehead and she sighs. "Right. That." She whispers.
He smiles small and sits beside her, handing her the coffee he just made. "You don't have to just accept this. I'd be okay with you rejecting me and running screaming - it's a completely rational response." He reasons.
"You promised you'd stay out of my thoughts." She gives him a scowl.
He chuckles. "I'm sorry... Your neighbours are having sex so I don't have much to tune into."
She shoves him, giggling small as she rolls her eyes. "Who... Who is Bella? Your sisters mentioned her and you went crazy..." She turns to look at him fully as he tenses. "Sorry..."
"No. No, it's fine." He takes an unneeded deep breath. "Isabella Swan is a human whom I fell in love with a few years ago."
Drew feels her heart break. "You said... You said vampires mate for life. And... That means... If you loved her once you'll always love h-her." She quickly moves away, beginning to pace as she sets the mug down clumsily, spilling some coffee on the bedside table.
Edward stands and blocks her path, taking her hands. "This isn't resting. If you want me to explain, sit down." He orders, kissing her head.
She turns away and climbs back on the bed, grabbing a throw pillow from the pile and gripping it in her hands so she doesn't break something. "What, am I just second choice? Will you ever love me the way you love her?" She sneers - she's never been so angry or jealous.
Edward kneels beside the bed and rests his chin on her thigh, looking up at her. "You think I would be here if I didn't love you? You are my everything, Drew Carrick, okay? There's no choice between you or her - none. But I will always feel something for her, life has just given me a new mate, someone more suited to me. Bella was.. Clumsy, messy. She had so much going on, she grew too attached. We were Romeo and Juliet - doomed from the start. "
"Don't compare your relationship to the greatest love story ever." She whisper growls.
He smirks a little as she stares at her lap, an angry scowl on her face. "Bad analogy, I apologise. But you get the metaphor."
Drew closes her eyes for a moment. "You left her. What stops you from ever leaving me?"
"I've experienced the pain before and I never want to do that again. And the thought of being away from you alone makes me hurt. So there's no chance I'm going to let that pain stay." He says gently watching her.
She opens her eyes and stares at him. "Did I die? Tell me honestly, I died when I was stabbed didn't I."
Edward laughs but moves his lips to hers, kissing her hard. Drews heart skips and she closes her eyes for the duration of the kiss, only opening them when Edward pulls away. "Did that feel real?" She nods shakily. "Good. Did you enjoy it?" She nods again. "Does that answer your question?" She nods fast. "Can I do it again?" He smirks.
