She wanted nothing more than to wring Lis' neck.

How dare she talk to her like that? And accuse her of liking Sander?

In front of the others?

Oh, she was going to pay for that.

Dearly.

She angrily wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes.

Lis didn't know what she was talking about.

Yeah, Ori had a certain set of emotions when it came to Sander, but she knew it was mutual.

Maybe it wasn't love. Maybe it wasn't healthy.

But at least she knew they were on the same page.

And that's all that mattered.

She continued down the hall, passing Maeve and Halle's room, passing Kerris and Beck's room, passing Jamison's room, passing Lis's room, passing Sander's room, where she heard low murmurs.

Lis definitely didn't know what she was talking about.

Ori pushed her hair out her face and stalked past that closed door.

Her room was next.

Normally the proximity gave her a sense of comfort, a certain relief knowing that he was right next door if she needed him, but now...

No, now all she could think about was Lis whispering lies in his ear.

And him, wrapped around his frail twin sister's finger, taking every word as truth.

Her fingers hesitated on the doorknob.

With a sigh of disgust, she set off again, further into the maze of the abandoned White House.

She didn't know where she was going or what she was looking for, but she figured she'd know it when she found it.

Eventually her feet led her back to the hallway containing the Oval Office.

She nudged the door open with her toe and stalked across the dark room to the desk.

As she sat down in the desk chair, she noticed that the computer screen was on.

Odd.

She pulled the chair closer to the desk.

There was a message on the screen.

A message that had been sent from here.

Her brows furrowed as she pondered the identity of the sender.

And then her heart began to pound as she realized the implications.

If none of them sent it, that meant... someone else was in the White House.

Dun dun dun...

Anyway, sorry, short update today because I haven't done any writing any week. It's been super busy and super stressful.

As you may have read on my message board the other day, President Obama's senior advisor Valerie Jarrett visited my university on Wednesday, and I went to both the speech (er, discussion) and the preceding press conference to grab quotes and whatever for the newspaper. Guys, I was in the same tiny room as a civil rights hero and it was incredible. I don't even know. I was in awe the entire evening. Just the way she spoke and the experiences she shared with us... Wow.

That was beyond stressful (I mean, come on, she's basically an American icon), but I'm so grateful for the chance to meet her and hear her speak.

Take advantage of opportunities like this, you guys. It's life-changing.

Alrighty. Have a great weekend, y'all (and stay warm, if your region is the negative temperatures like mine is).
