AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Hello everyone! Happy Friday. I never thought I'd have to say this, but I need a break. This break will not be long, only two Fridays without a chapter. I personally don't like when writers go on breaks and I'm sorry. But I'm in a really bad place right now and I don't need the stress of releasing a new chapter every week on my shoulders. I try to write throughout the week, but I usually end up writing most of the chapters I publish on the day I release them. I hate to do this to you, especially since we recently hit 3k (which I am so happy for, thank you so much). I am sorry to do this to you, but I feel that my state of mind and mental health are more important than this story. There is still a chapter this week, so I hope you enjoy. I'm very sorry, but I love you all. Enjoy this week's chapter. <3

As I walked out of the building, I had a huge smile plastered on my face. I couldn't wait to tell Colby. He'll be so proud.

He always believed in me, even when I didn't. Colby's Corolla quickly came into view.

"Hey, how'd it to?" Colby asked excitedly as I entered the car.

"I-I think it went well. They told me 'I'd definitely be hearing from them,'" I told him. Just like I did when I found out the news, Colby's little smile turned big.

"That's great, A. You're definitely getting the job."

"A girl can dream."

Colby started up the car once again as I thought about the possibilities. I grinned at the simple thought that maybe one day I could be on stage with everyone watching.

"You hungry?" Colby snapped me out of my trance.

"Yeah, kinda."

"Where do you want to go?" he asked.

I sat and contemplated the question before answering, "You pick."

"Tender Greens okay with you?"

I nodded in his direction before turning to look out the car window.

We arrived at the restaurant and got seated right away.

I grabbed the menu and began to look for what I felt like eating. "Are you okay with Brennen coming over later? He needs help filming a video."

"Yeah, of course," I paused. "And just to let you know, you don't have to get my approval on everything. Don't make me think that I'm starting to control you."

Colby gave me a loving smile before directing his attention back to the food items.

After scanning over the entire menu, I decided on the chicken salad.

We ordered and talked about random topics that came to mind. Colby always managed to circle back to piano... He only wanted to talk about me.

"You know, you should perform for the house," he said unexpectedly.

I quickly looked at him with an are-you-trying-to-give-me-an-anxiety-attack look. "Come on, A. You're so good. How could you not want to?"

I shrugged and shook my head no.

"Please? Plus, it'll be good practice for when you get the job."

I diverted the subject and talked about something that I've been meaning to ever since I filled out my application.
