Chapter 40

October 22

"Yah." Yeri slammed her hands on Eunmi's desk, whose eyes were almost closed.

The girl flinched and glared at Yeri. "Why the hell are you slamming my desk?"

"Wow, okay." Yeri scoffed. "It's your birthday and yet you're like this... okay, fine..."

Eunmi rolled her eyes at Yeri who was being sarcastic. "Whatever you say."

"OKAY IT SEEMS LIKE YOU REALLY DON'T WANT MY GIFT?" Yeri made her voice louder, causing everyone in the room to look at the two of them.

Eunmi hid her face due to secondhand embarrassment. "Why the hell are you like this Yeri-yah~" She whined.

Yeri just laughed and continued slamming her desk.

"Stop, you're embarrassing me." Eunmi rolled her eyes.

Yeri handed her the gift and she thanked her afterwards. She yawned and tried to keep her eyes opened. "Wow, you actually have a gift for me." Yeri glared at her.

"Why are your eyes swollen? Did you cry last night?" She gasped. "Did Mark hurt you?! Did you two fight?!"

Eunmi shook her head. "Well, kind of? But he already apologized and yeah... we're okay now." She gave her a reassuring smile.

Yeri nodded, "Open it!"

"Can't it wait? I wanna open it at home..." She pouted and shook the box that was wrapped elegantly.

Yeri stopped her from doing so by snatching it. "Are you sure that you wanna shake it? You might regret it once you open it!"

"Are you sure that's even a gift? Seems like nothing's inside." Eunmi laughed. "Now, I'm getting curious."

The other rolled her eyes, "Just open it."

She sighed. "Fine."

She opened the box and saw a necklace with a guitar pick as a pendant, but it wasn't just an ordinary guitar pick. It was smaller, and it was made of gold. There was also a small heart engraved at the middle.

She laughed upon seeing it, "What, are you the next Chenle now?

"Yah, at least appreciate it!" Yeri stomped her foot.

"I didn't say I hate it though?!" Eunmi raised a brow. "Thank you, Yeri."

"Welcome." She smiled. "I couldn't find something related to piano, so yeah..."

"It's fine." She laughed. "Mark has been trying really hard to teach me how to play the guitar lately, and I commend him for having a lot of patience in his body."

Yeri laughed.

"Where is Mark, though?" Yeri asked.

The other shrugged. "I haven't seen him since this morning. When I woke up, he wasn't there."

"You aren't worried?" Yeri asked.

"Why would I be? I trust him. Besides, he greeted me a good morning earlier." Eunmi said, showing her phone screen which shows a conversation of her and Mark.
