"I'm just glad you and your sister worked it out love. Callie loves you." Stef said to her son as she ruffled his hair and he smiled. The young boy had been back for week after deciding to stay with Callie and Diane the rest of his Christmas vacation through New Years. Both siblings worked it out and his sister tried her best to respect his feelings towards Stef more and to curb the bad mouthing. She realized if she didn't want to sabotage her relationship with him it was something she needed to do.
FLASHBACK
"Now I want the both of you to talk. No one is leaving angry ok? You love each other and there has to be a way that you can accept each other's feelings for now. Is that possible?" Diane said as she had joined the two siblings on the couch seeing that Jude was once again angry.
"Only if she respects our mom Diane."
"She's not my mom Jude."
"She is! She gave birth to you Callie!"
"So what! That doesn't mean anything! She was awful!"
"She's not!"
"Ok,ok both of you. Calm down. Calm down. Take deep breaths and relax."
"I'm going to get dressed." The young boy said leaving the room as Callie let out another sigh. Hearing the door close Diane looked to Callie as the young girl said nothing.
"Callie, listen you love your brother right?"
"Of course."
"Ok I know you do. But I'm going to tell you something. I know you don't want a relationship with your mo..with Stef. I know that. But you need to understand that your brother loves her. He adores her and he is always going to protect and defend her. I know you are old enough to understand that and I know he sees a different side to her then you did. I know the side he sees as well and I know it was something you didn't get often. But just like he needs to understand you grew up differently with her you need to understand he did as well."
"But I don't want him getting hurt mom."
"I understand that. But saying the things you are saying is hurting him. All he wants is for everyone to get along. Which I know is not possible but you have to respect how he feels about Stef. And honey she wasn't awful."
"Mom. She was."
"No sweetheart. She had problems like everyone. I talk to her you know and she always asks about you. Every time. Anyway you have been looking forward to seeing Jude right?"
"Yeah. But I feel like I'm not even his sister anymore. Since he has Frankie."
"That's not true he is just lucky to have two sisters that love him. And sweetheart why are you so against knowing her?"
"I'm not I'm just not interested in her. " Grabbing the girls hands Callie looked to Diane with innocent eyes.
"Babygirl don't let anger, cloud your judgement and prevent you from moving forward. I don't want you to look around one day and see no one. Ok? Remember what I told you. I have no family and you do. Now go talk to your brother and make it right."
Callie could only nod her head for she knew once again Diane was right. She really did and was determined to make it right with her brother as she knocked on his door once again.
FLASHBACK ENDS
Thankfully Callie did make it right as the young boy smiled at his mother, along with Lena, Aunt Fran and Debbie. The women were over for they wanted to see Frankie off on her first day at work. The girl had passed the academy and she was officially a Sacramento officer. It was bittersweet for Stef for she was so proud of her but at the same time so worried.
"I'm glad we made up too mom."
"Yeah I know sweetheart. Anyway let me check on my oldest. Francesca Diane come on shake a leg kid!" She yelled getting up as she made her way to Frankie's room. But as she stood at the doorway the blonde could only feel tears start to fall from her eyes. They did and she couldn't control it as Frankie turned around to smile.
"Hi mama do I look ok?"
"You look beautiful Officer Foster. In fact you look amazing."
"Thanks. Will you help me put my badge on? Please."
"I'd love to sweetheart." Walking over to her daughter and taking a seat beside her on the bed Stef gently placed the girls badge on and straightened her name tag.
"You think I'll do ok?"
"Oh I have no doubt in my mind love. You will be amazing. Just listen to your training officer ok? SHe's a good cop and has more years on the force then me. SHe knows her shit."
"Listen I hope your no mad that you aren't...
"Honey I'd be horrible training you. Believe me." The blonde laughed as Frankie smiled wide at her holding her hand. Stef of course would have loved to train her daughter but she knew it was a horrible idea and so did Captain Roberts. "I wouldn't let you do anything I'd just try to protect you babygirl."
"Well that's understandable mama. And I wouldn't expect any different."
"Yeah I know I'm predictable."
"Only a tiny bit." The girl said laughing.
"But I must say it does suit you very well. And I know you will be an amazing cop. I really am proud of you Francesca. I really am."
"Thanks ma and I'm proud of you too. I really am."
"Thank you love. Listen, no pressure but anytime you wanna have lunch at work you know where my desk is."
"Always. And you know where mine is." All Stef could do was smile at her oldest for she was such a special girl and truly a gem.
"You know love it's so hard to imagine not having you in my life. You know I never told you but I didn't want you to know who I was because I felt I was such a screw up. I didn't want to destroy your life so I figured it would be best if I left you alone and it was Lena who found you and I was angry at first but it was the best thing she ever did for me. It was the best thing anyone ever did for me and I want you to know how much happier I have been since having you in my life honey. Just so you know." Rubbing the girls hand Frankie soon looked to her mother letting out a smile. She too was happy and grateful she had found her birth mother and that they were close. Never could she imagine her not being in her life either.
"You are definitely not a screw up mama. No way and everyone has issues they need to work on. I'm really glad Lena found me and that you started to come to the diner. My life changed so much once I got to know you for the better and I've never been happier. You teach me so much, how to be strong, and work with what you have and to not let your past dictate your future. All that I learned from you and I'm so proud your my mother and I wouldn't want it any other way. I love you so much."
"I love you too Frankie." Stef said now really feeling the tears fall from her eyes now as the two hugged tightly for the blondes relationship with Frankie was one of the most important in her life and always would be.
