Lucas didn't talk to me the next day or the day after that. In fact he only gave me sly smiles.

It was probably because he had been scared off. He was going out with two girls, which was pretty obvious to everyone except Ruby and Rachel. Everyone except Emily knew about that, as she had been ill for the last two days. And I hadn't exactly filled her in on the gossip. I didn't want to talk about Lucas all the time, although she was back in school again after then. Lucas was the topic of the lunch table, everyday, and I just felt like I wanted to rip his head off, when he smiled at girls flirtatiously.

So it came as a huge surprise when I heard that he had asked someone else out. Apparently this was supposed to be a dare. Ask three girls out and date them at the same time, and the girls couldn't know that he was dating someone else.

I decided to work at a restaurant to get some money for university. It was on my second shift of the week that I saw a really strange sight. Lucas came into the restaurant with a girl, but it wasn't Ruby or Rachel, it was... Emily. And she was giggling and laughing along with his charm and wit, obviously. I didn't understand. How long had she been keeping this from me? How long had they been going out?

Oh no, this was bad. Emily was the third person to be asked out. She didn't know anything about the dare. She just thought that he was being genuine. I laughed in disgust as he held out her chair for her.

"Anna, please serve table three." I mentally cringed.

Rebecca, the manager shoved two menus into my hand.

Table three was where Lucas and Emily were sitting.

I walked over there. But they didn't even notice me.

"Could I take your order.."

They were kissing. Ew, this was revolting.

"Ehem."

They didn't even pause.

"I'll give you guys a minute..."

I quickly walked away. And I came back when they were only talking. I cleared my throat.

"So, can I take your order?" I said, lazily taking out my notebook and pen.

Lucas smiled at me, I just stared back at him grumpily.

"I'll have the steak and chips please."He smirked.

"I'll have the salmon with sautéed potatoes." Emily giggled. She made no effort to look at me. Hello, best friend? You there?

He scooted his chair closer to her. And they started doing lovey-dovey things like holding hands and kissing. It was all because Lucas was trying to annoy me.

"Um, the salmon may take a while because..."

"Don't worry, we're willing to wait." Lucas winked, and my mouth fell open. He turned back to Emily, and whispered in her ear, causing her to giggle even more. I turned away in disgust.

Luckily, after giving Emily her stupid salmon, my shift was over, so I was able to walk out of there without being too permanently scarred.

The next day was a Saturday, and I was working again at the restaurant in the evening.

When my shift came around, I reluctantly entered the restaurant. And what I saw shouldn't have shocked me, but it did. Lucas was here again, but with Ruby.

"I've never been here before, so I hope it's good!" I rolled my eyes.

"I really hope that there is something good for both of us, since I'm now a vegetarian."

"Babe, you completely understand me, I mean, I've never met another guy who's willing to give up meat to be with me! I think it's because we both understand how bad it is to cook and eat animals, it's an outrage."

"I know!" And they kissed. I had to serve that table. Luckily Ruby didn't see me as she went to the toilet when I asked for the order. I was going to confront him.

"What are you..."

"We'll both have a green salad. Then the veggie Pasta Bolognese. That is vegetarian, right?"
He stressed the 'vegetarian'.

"Yes, the bolognese is made with quorn." I said, smiling insincerely.

I walked away, seething. He couldn't do this. He would most probably take Rachel to this restaurant tomorrow night. I was working a shift then. How dare he, he couldn't take three girls to the same restaurant three nights in a row.
How did he do it? Was I the only one who knew about this? What should I do? If I told them, I would be the one who broke their hearts, and they probably wouldn't believe me.

The next evening was a repeat of the last, and it was sick to watch. Rachel was another giggling girl that Lucas had under his charm. I felt really bad for the girls. It wasn't their fault. It was his game, and they were completely helpless.

Someone needed to inform them what was happening. And it had to be me.
