CHAPTER THREE: ACCIDENTS
Two weeks flew since I last had the conversation with Adrian about the position of being Noah's PA and frankly, it had been in my head ever since... apart from the time that I needed to work but even then, it lingered around and drove me crazy to the core.
My hair once again for the twentieth time causing a grunt to be heard from the back of my throat. Losing the little patience I had left, I tucked it behind my ear as I continued to make slight word changes on the paper copy I had of the 2018 annual report.
Needless to say, so much had happened over the past two weeks.
Mr King had given everyone a load of paperwork to do since a new business deal was being processed. It made everyone feel agitated, depressed and reckless all in one. Now that the work had double it had resulted everyone to stay back late hours, including myself.
Oh how I loved work life.
Once I finished making the small changes on the final page I moaned in satisfaction, throwing my head back. My arms rise up, stretching above my head. I closed my eyes whilst doing so, finding a small amount of peace and happiness as I had completed the task given.
My eyes drift to the bottom right corner of my computer reading the time.
It was currently nine-thirty-seven. I combed a hand through my hair before reaching out for the mouse, moving it so that I opened my emails. Luck was on my side as I only had about five, three of which came from Adrian.
It didn't take me long to answer my emails and before I knew it I found myself smiling, knowing that I was now able to clock out for the day, even if it was almost half ten at night. I shut down the computer and gather my belongings, ready to head home.
Without a doubt my exhaustion kept up at first place, actions slowly becoming sloppy. It was a clear sign of how tired I was. I stand from my seat, looking around the vacant room. A shiver runs down my spine, acknowledging that it was just me and no-one else.
I take my jacket off the chair and throw it on before taking my bag from the side draw, throwing it over my shoulder. I head towards the elevator, pressing the button to head down. I take my phone out of my bag and check my messages.
A couple minutes pass when the doors eventually open. I turn my phone off and step in, allowing the doors to close. I position myself so that I was stood close to the buttons, hitting the number '1' before leaning against the wall with my eyes closed.
A yawn escapes my mouth as I open my eyes just as the doors opened. I push myself off the wall and take a few steps closer to leave but I hesitate. my eyes scan around the empty place in front of me. My body shaking at the sight of the emptiness.
The ground floor seemed even bigger now that there was no-one around. The lights were all switched off and no sound could be heard other than the beeps of cars from a distance away. The light outside the main doors provided a source warmth but it wasn't enough.
Fear built slowly as seconds ticked by. I don't leave the elevator quickly as I should but rather like a sloth. I stick my head out first, making sure that it was only me and not a murderer lurking at the end of the room.
I inhale a deep breath and finally step outside, the doors closing behind me. The hairs on the nape of my neck rises as my ears pick up noise from somewhere. I wasn't the only here the thought crossed my mind.
There was another elevator down the room and it hummed loudly in the silence. My heart quickened at the sound. Soon enough I hear the sound of quick feet from another end of the room, my head moving to the sound as it became louder and now in scene.
