22 - Love Yourself Day

                                    

                                          
"Be happy, and a reason will come along."
                          


                          
My face heated up as I thought about that day. The day Seokjin asked me to be his girlfriend. Saying that it was the best day of my life would be a lie because it was so much more than that to me.

                          
I was rather surprised that Seokjin would go for a girl like me when he could go for someone that's so much better. He's handsome, son of a rich CEO, and charming.
                          
And I am aware that the surprises will only keep going on from there, as the rewards will present themselves to me once I have completed the tasks in this project, Loving Myself.
                          
Loving yourself in the long run, however, is a completely different case. One that I'm ready to face.

                          
Which brings me to the third and final task, the biggest and most challenging one. 
                          
My third and final task is to prove that I'm capable. I've already proved that I'm secure, working on becoming perfect to my standards, so I just need to prove that I am not incapable.
                          
Sounds easy, but as they say, it's easier said than done.
                          
Which is why, to prove that I have a say in what's going on, I've decided to do something I'd never have done before.
                          
I've created a new event for the whole town to do, which is a day where you compliment others, love yourself, and show your gratitude for other's existence in this world.
                          
On this day, gifts would be given, words of love and affection shared with each other, and most importantly, you have to show that you love yourself.
                          
I will personally bake cupcakes for every member in this small town, as a reward of their hard work for the day. This will prove that I'm capable of creating challenges and events in the community.
                          
But I'm also very worried. What if everything goes wrong? What if no one participates? That will just prove that I'm more incapable than I feel already. What I'm most scared of, is that I'll disappoint Seokjin.
                          
The big day will be on the 12th of December, only a few weeks away.
                          
I really hope with all my heart that this all goes well.

12th December
                          
Today is the big day. My big day.
                          
The day where I prove to everyone that I'm capable.
                          
Though my hands were still red and sore from having to hand bake 1200 cupcakes, I'm still proud and have never been more proud of myself.
                          
Holding up the mic to my mouth, I watched as the townspeople watched me eagerly, waiting for me to speak.
                          
I still couldn't believe so many people had come to support my cause. To be honest, I would've been grateful either way if only one person had shown up.
                          
They were all so inspiring and warm it was incredible.
                          
"Hello everyone! It's Y/N here, and today is a very special day, because today, I will be hosting the very special event, which is to love yourself!" Cheers erupted from the crowds already, everyone anticipating in excitement for what would happen next.
                          
"And, to reward everyone's hard work, I have hand baked 1200 cupcakes for everyone to eat at the end of the day! Hope that today will be a memorable event for every single one of you. I really appreciate your help!" I practically yell into the mic in excitement as the crowd cheered louder than ever.
                          
"Let's get to work!" With that, I left the platform and jumped into Seokjin's arms with a big, goofy smile plastered on my face.
                          
He smiled back brightly at me, hugging me tighter than ever.
                          
I would give anything to stay like that forever, in Seokjin's arms, while the crowd cheered madly.

The mood set in was so joyful and loving that anyone could feel happy if they stayed here, any time. Even people working were joining in on my little activity.
                          
For me, I walked around most of the day, making sure everything was going smoothly. It made me smile to hear people compliment each other, but what made me truly grin like a madman was when I could hear people throwing away their insecurities and attempting new things.
                          
I saw a girl standing on the side of the street, holding a guitar and singing. There was a small crowd gathered around her, and I could tell that she was really shy from the way she was blushing hard, and the way her voice quivered slightly.
                          
Joining the crowd, I watched and listened as her angelic voice filled my ears. I was stunned. The girl sounded truly amazing, so amazing that words couldn't describe her deep and mellow voice. It suited the guitar perfectly.
                          
When she was done, it was hard to believe. The crowd clapped loudly for her, and when they started to thin out, I walked over to the girl.
                          
Her eyes widened when she saw me, and she blushed harder than before. "You're Y/N, right?" She asked timidly, eyes full of innocence and joy.
                          
I nodded and laughed. "Yes, I am. You have such an amazing voice! It's hard to believe that I just got to watch you perform live for free, what an honor!" I smiled brightly at her, patting her on the shoulder.
                          
"O-oh thank you!" She stammered, but I could see that she was smiling happily. "You're so amazing, hosting this event so that I could finally learn to overcome my fear..." She locked eyes with me and rubbed the back of her neck, feeling flustered.
                          
"I have a small fear of performing in front of an audience, but when I saw how you were so brave and so confident, I decided to take on this challenge today. Thank you so much for offering me this opportunity!" She bowed and I felt embarrassed. 
                          
Me? Amazing? All I had done was host a simple event. Yet, it made me feel so much better knowing that there was someone who enjoyed it and learned to overcome their fears because of me.
                          
"Where are my manners? I'm Kim Jisoo, by the way." She bowed formally again, and I laughed. 
                          
"Nice to meet you, Jisoo!" We shook hands, and I bid her goodbye as I watched her fix her guitar into its case, and left soon after.
                          
I smiled widely to the sky. Is this what it feels like to be happy? Taehyung, thank you so much for giving me this confidence, I know I wouldn't have done it without you watching me and supporting me from up there.
                          
And now I've found out who my protector is. Kim Seokjin.
                          
I no longer felt lonely or sad, but fit in and joyful.
