When Kirishima finally crawled out of bed, he noticed that Bakugou wasn't anywhere to be seen.
Thank god. This was a good chance to get the fuck out and head home.
He threw his stuff in his suitcase, deciding to grab breakfast once he was out of the house. For all he knew, Bakugou was just doing laundry downstairs. He had to take advantage of the time he had alone.
Unfortunately, when Kirishima opened the door, Bakugou was standing right there.
The blond blinked, surprised by the door opening.
"Ei, where are you going?"
"Uhhh called back to work. Gotta go home. Can't stay." Kirishima was so flustered. He didn't know how to make words into sentences right now. He felt like a little kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
Except he was going to get a much worse punishment for this than an hour in the corner.
"Without saying goodbye? What happened to you staying with me until my memory came back?"
"I...uh...it's an emergency..."
"You're a terrible liar." Katsuki sighed. "C'mon. Let's talk."
Kirishima tried to find an excuse to leave. His house was broken into...his mother died...his cat needed him...
Nothing really seemed like a good reason to pack up and go.
"You saw the news, didn't you?" Bakugou stepped into the house, shutting the door behind him, blocking Kirishima's escape.
"Yeah." Kirishima nodded.
"And you're afraid of being seen around me because you don't want the press talking. You think running off home and ignoring the problem will fix it...like you always do."
Kirishima felt tears forming in his eyes. They stung so much.
Because it was true, what Bakugou was saying.
Kirishima DID avoid his problems. He DID hide out when things went sour.
That was why he never talked to his high school friends anymore, why he avoided making contact with Bakugou again after the rejection.
Why he had driven himself to depression.
Because he didn't face his problems. Not like a man should.
"So tell me what's wrong, Kirishima. I'm your boyfriend. I'm here to help you."
"I...I don't want to be out. I don't want people to know about us."
"Why not?"
"Because Katsuki...the real Katsuki...he's so arrogant and prideful...he's not soft. And I'm...just me...they're going to make assumptions. They're going to think I'm using you for fame...or money...or that you're using me to look better. I just...I don't want that." Kirishima collapsed onto the floor, tears running down his cheeks.
"Eijirou..." Bakugou knelt beside him, wiping away the tears. "Fuck em. Just fuck those guys. They're dumbasses and I'll kill anybody who talks shit about us."
Kirishima felt a small laugh bubble up. "You're starting to sound like the real Katsuki again."
"Idiot. I AM the real Katsuki. I just don't remember shit."
"Right..." Kirishima swallowed. "Can you grab me a tissue from the bedroom?"
"Oh...yeah...of course."
"But kiss me before you go." Kirishima pursed his lips.
"God, you're clingy." Bakugou rolled his eyes, but still leaned in to kiss Kiri.
The redhead savoured it as much as he could.
Because the moment Bakugou slipped into the bedroom, Kirishima was rushing out the door.
