Mateo was right, tonight I was not behaving like my self. Where was all that self confidence? It seemed as if Jasmine still had all the power over me, even if it has been two years since we last spoke.
"Forget it. You probably don't even stand a chance with her."
"You've lost it man, all that charm. You don't stand a chance with a beauty like that." That was it, Mateo was playing with fire.
"Are you doubting me?"
He shrugs, "Are you doubting yourself?"
"Fine, let's make a deal. I will not only go over there and get her number but I'll get her to fall in love with me, just give me two weeks."
He smirks,"I'll give you a month, but what if she doesn't fall for your deceit? What will I get?"
"If she doesn't then you can get the ten percent of my company you've been craving for and if she does then-"
I have everything I wanted, thinking of something to ask for in return is a bit difficult. "When I have her falling on her knees for me in the next four weeks then I'll let you know."
"I'll be looking forward to my ten percent share." He raises his glass as I get ready to approach the target.
"Wait!"
"What?" I ask glaring at a smirking Mateo.
"What do I get if... if you fall for her instead?"
I stare at him feeling puzzled. Was that suppose to be some kind of joke? He of all people should know better than to say something like that.
"That will never happen." I told him confidently. I turn back in the direction where the woman was seated. She was no longer there. My eyes roam around the bar but there was no sign of her.
I took a seat and order more drinks. "Looks like neither of us will be gaining from this bet."
"Sorry man." Mat pats my back. "It's my fault you lost your chance, but on the brighter side if it's meant to be then it will be."
"Shut it Mat, you're speaking as if she was my last chance. There are plenty of women out there if anything it's her lost."

I need to get out of here, It was getting late. Tomorrow's interview was at ten in the morning and I had to finish getting my notes organised. Although that was not the main reason, sitting a few tables away are two men and it felt as if they were watching me. I might be wrong but the last thing I want right now is for one of them to approach me. After what happen recently I'm done with men for a while.
Micah was still sitting with his Brittney look alike, they seem deep in conversation and I don't want to interrupt them. It has been a while since he dated anyone. The last woman he dated only dated him for his money. Micah was a handsome and brilliant man who could get anyone he wanted I don't get why he would settle for a exotic dancer who was only after his money.
Drowning my drink I grab my purse and walked out of the bar. The streets of New York were filled with people, it's actually not that different from L.A although I do prefer L.A as a place to call my home. After all I was born there.
The walk from Davinche Restaurant and bar to the hotel was about five minutes. After finally arriving in room 202 I kick my heels off and pour myself some red wine. I wasn't the biggest fan of wines but I received a lot at my engagement party and after that was broken off I carried one around with me everywhere I go, sometimes I don't even bother using a glass.
"Mmm," I moan looking down in my glass. "At Least you didn't leave me, but maybe if you had feet you would have, wouldn't you?"
Giggling, I pop my butt down on one of the stools around the counter. My iPhone starts vibrating, I watch as the phone moves around due to the vibration.
"What do you want now mother?" I ask before pressing the phone to my ears.
"What is this I heard about you not talking to your sister?" Her voice was probably sharper than the knives in my kitchen back home.
"Hello to you too mother."
"Ciara I don't have time for your foolishness, now answer my question."
I laugh, she never has time for me. She never had time to come to my preschool plays, she never had time to comfort me back in ninth grade when Troy Vixen broke my heart, she wasn't even there three years ago when I met in a car accident.
"I don't know mom, why didn't you ask your favourite daughter why she stole my fiancée months before my wedding. Ask her why she had her tongue down his throat while her husband and daughter was waiting for her at home."
I wipe my tears and pour myself more wine. The line went completely silent not that she cut the call because I could still hear her breathing, but because the cat got her tongue. I bet she never thought that her lovely Bridget was capable of stealing her little disaster's fiancée.
I sigh, "Bye mom." I cut the call and began to do some work. I already had a lot on my plate, and I choose not to add my mother to it, for the relationship between the both of us was cremated years ago.
