Chapter 38 - School Day

Melissa's POV
                          
           
                          
I woke up the next morning feeling very tired. The twins had taken longer than normal to actually fall asleep, even though they were calmer about going to school. I was able to lie in bed for a few moments before the bedroom door slowly opened. Mitch came in with Kirstie right behind him. He was holding her hand and the pair of them were rubbing their eyes. 
                          
"Morning darlings." I said. Mitch jumped up onto the bed with me and cuddles into my side immediately. Kirstie tried to copy her brother, but she was smaller than him and had issues trying to get up onto the bed. I reached out both hands to her so she could cuddle into my other side. Just by the look on both of their faces, I knew today would be tough. 
                          
For once the ride to school was very quiet. Usually there is singing or at least chattering. Kirstie was playing with her fingers and Mitch was cuddling into Scott. Kevin and Avi jumped out once we arrived and turned to help the twins out. I helped Scott, Avi helped Mitch and Kevin helped Kirstie. 
                          
"Enjoy your first day you two. I'll come and check on you at lunchtime." Kevin said. With that, he took Scott to his class. 
                          
I had a twin on each side of me as we walked to their classroom, both of them with wide eyes and gripping onto my hands tightly. Their classroom was the same one that Scott was in last year. I hoped that the teacher was the same as well. 
                          
"Hi Melissa!" someone called. I turned to find it was Miss Carly. Thank goodness for that. "Looks like I've got your little ones this year." She said with a smile. 
                          
"Indeed you have. Mitch, Kirstie, do you remember Miss Carly from last year? She was Scott's teacher." Mitch nodded. Kirstie just hid herself in my leg. 
                          
"I have been informed about Kirstie's situation so I do know what to look out for. Mitch let me know if you spot something that I don't. Kirstie you do have a one-to-one assistant. She's just sorting some things out for you at the moment, so she'll be here in a minute." 
                          
"Thank you for that. Their brothers are probably going to check on them at some point. Kevin definitely will." 
                          
"Not a problem. Kevin was here last year to check on Scott every now and then." 
                          
A moment later, someone new came into the room. She put a very comfy looking cushion down and then came back over to us. 
                          
"Hi. I'm Hannah, you must be Melissa Brown. I'm Kirstin's one-to-one assistant." She shook my hand that Kirstie was previously gripping. 
                          
"Hi there. Kirstie's trying to hide in my leg. Mitch is her twin brother." 
                          
"Hi Mitch. Nice to meet you. If you have any worries at all, let me know." 
                          
"Okay. Can help sissy?" 
                          
"Yes, I can help her, but I can help you as well if you need it." She smiled at him and he relaxed. 
                          
"Mitch, why don't you go and put your things in a cubby over there? You can take Kirstie's as well if you want to." Miss Carly said. Mitch ran off to do just that. "I'll leave you with Hannah." 
                          
Hannah leant down to Kirstie and smiled at her.
                          
"Hi there Kirstin. My name is Hannah. I'll be helping you with school this year." 
                          
"Kirstie." She said quietly.
                          
"You prefer to be called Kirstie?" Hannah asked.
                          
"Brothers call Kirstie." She said and then put her thumb in her mouth. She still had an arm wrapped around my leg. I knelt down to her, preparing myself for tears.
