I woke up in excitement. I knew what I had to do. Damon is nothing without me. I must make a sacrifice for the ones I love, but I must make sure that Isabel is alive. I jumped out of my bed and walked down the stairs. Lately this place has been more dreary. I grabbed my cloak. and wrapped in on my shoulders. I ran out the door. I climbed onto my horse.
"Hut, hut!" I said kicking the horse on the stomach lightly.
It ran fast. I took it through the woods where I told Isabelle to go. I found her tracks. It looked like she tripped. She was running. Running in terror. I followed the tracks 'til the end of the woods. She got into the town. Thank God! I went to the church. I tied my horse to a tree and ran to the church.
"Open up! Please, open up!" I said banging on the doors.
The doors opened. A short old man with a slightly bald head came out. "Yes, dear child?" he said.
"My sister, is she here? Isabel is her name. She looks like me with brown eyes. Please, tell me that she is here! I told her to come here." I said pleadingly.
"Yes, I do believe she is here. She was weeping and she was dirty. She is with Sister Marie."
"May I see her? I need to see her." I said desperately.
"Yes, this way." he said opening the door all the way.
I walked in. I followed him. He lead me to a praying area. there I saw Isabel. "Isabel!" I said excitedly.
She turned around. "Belinda, I knew you would come for me!" she said running towards me with open arms. She hugged my legs.
"Oh, Isabel, I missed you so!" I said hugging her tight. "May, we have a minute alone, please?" I asked.
"Yes" the woman said.
"Belinda, what's wrong? You look sad and you are crying, why?"
"They're just happy tears, Isabel. And I am trying not to be sad." I said smiling weakly.
"You are staying here with me right?" she asked happily.
"Isabel, I—I can't. I love you, but Damon is still at the ranch and I can't leave him there alone. He will hurt Mama, and he will find me. If he finds me he will find you, and hurt you. I can't. Isabel, this will soon be over though. We will meet again I promise. One day." I said hugging her.
"But, Belinda, you can't leave me here! Please, stay! They will protect you." she said pleadingly.
"Oh, Isabel, I can't take my chances."
"Okay, I understand, but here. I made this for you." she said handing me a wooden heart. She wrote: Belinda and Isabelle forever sisters.
Tears came to my eyes. "Thank you. I will treasure it forever. Now stay here while I talk to the nice people." I said standing up. She nodded her head. I walked over to Sister Marie. "Excuse me. I need to discus something important to you."
"Yes, dear child." the old woman said.
"Please, take care of her. And soon her...our mother will be joining her. Please protect them. They can't stay with me and I can't stay here. Just take care of her. And if my sister asks any questions about me. Just say I am in a better place and that we will meet again. She will find out soon enough. Can you do that for me?" I asked.
"Yes, but why won't you be with them?"
"Purposes. I wish I could tell you, but it is getting late. When my mother comes she will explain. She will tell you tomorrow at exactly six o'clock. At least I hope. Just keep your doors open for a woman who looks like Isabel. Thank you." I said leaving.
