it was their break time; maotong, zou ye, and meiqi gathered at the cafeteria as they earnestly wait for updates
                          
linong sat beside meiqi as he picked up the food she was holding, "oh! you came! don't you have any updates?"
                          
zuo ye munched the spaghetti he bought, "we've been waiting here for hours!"
                          
linong tried to stop them from talking as he massaged his chest, swallowing his food properly before talking
                          
"let me eat first, you don't know how much people i've healed earlier this morning" linong continued to eat more snacks from meiqi
                          
meiqi slowly moved her snacks to linong with an awkward look at her face, "go eat, our giant baby!"
                          
maotong gasped, "is that true? that thing that crossed in my mind recently?"
                          
zuo ye furrowed his eyebrows, "what thing? what do you mean?"
                          
"oh your powers are at work now? that's great!" linong stated as he indulged to more snacks, "no need for me to explain then"
                          
meiqi looked at maotong, waiting for him to continue, "the Cai's arrested the guoran clan successfully but the shapeshifter escaped just now and.."
                          
maotong hesitated to continue, he didn't want to tell them another bad news, "then what? continue!" zuo ye groaned

"what about zhenghao? i know he's fine" linong stated
                          
"zhenghao is dead?" maotong slowly looked up to see them, tears immediately escaped from his eyes
                          
linong choked from the snacks he ate, meiqi and zuo ye dropped their jaws, "you've got to be kidding me!"
                          
"i'm not lying, meiqi! i've never received a fake news before" maotong argued, crying even more
                          
linong dropped the snacks, "but i healed him earlier! i'm pretty sure he's fine before i come here!"
                          
"someone or something stopped his life support" maotong tweaked his hair, not believing what his knowledge has been telling him
                          
meiqi facepalmed, "it must be that shapeshifter! what the hell did zhenghao do to him?"
                          
"i think because zhenghao was the reason why everyone knew about the gouran's base" zuo ye stated, resting his chin on his palms
                          
maotong nodded, "that might be true"
                          
"but was that really true? i mean is he really dead?" linong asked again once more which led for meiqi to cry 
                          
"it's sad that it's true, our baby is gone" maotong cried
                          
zuo ye frowned, "that will be too sad for his family since he is the only heir" 
                          
chengcheng and quanzhe went near them, chengcheng noticed the situation so he asked, "why are you guys crying?"
                          
quanzhe met meiqi's eyes, he wants to comfort her seeing her in that situation but he knows it's not yet time
                          
"zhenghao. qian zhenghao is dead." zuo ye answered
                          
chengcheng gasped, "ARE YOU SURE?! IT MIGHT BE FALSE!"
                          
"what's the reason?" quanzhe asked, trying to stop the tears from falling
                          
"i already healed him but maotong said that someone stopped his life support! it's not my fault, right?" linong asked, pointing at himself
                          
quanzhe comforted him, "of course not! you've done your part!"
                          
"I SHOULD HAVE STAYED WITH HIM, IN THAT WAY I COULD HAVE PROTECTED HIM!" linong cried 
                          
"and you could also be dead" zuo ye stated, making a point which led for his friends to agree
                          
"anyways, don't you have any updates about yankai and chunhua? they could be making babies already there you know" chengcheng stated which led for quanzhe to smack his head
                          
"you're thinking that way again, enough with that imagination of yours" quanzhe muttered
                          
maotong wiped off his tears and calmed himself down before talking, "the last information i get is that they met the town's mayor, that's it"
                          
"are they safe there though? knowing that the shapeshifter escaped" meiqi asked
                          
maotong shrugged, "i hope they are"

yankai is in a bus together with chunhua. xikan told them that it is a bus especially reserved for them whenever the chosen one comes
                          
xikan, mingjun, and luo zheng are with them as well. yankai would like to be grateful to them but he could sense a weird feeling towards xikan
                          
"why is it that we're the only ones who have this kind of ear?" chunhua asked as she touched her new ear
                          
"the chosen one and the cursed one could only have that, any other unordinary human beings doesn't have the chance to have that kind of ears" luo zheng explained
                          
"to be quite honest, i want to have them but my family is not that lucky to have the chosen one from them" mingjun laughed
                          
"it feels weird to have them" yankai commented
                          
xikan nodded, "you're still new to it, you'll get used to them later on. look at my fox tail and ears, i don't like them at first but i think i'm cute with them so i get used to it"
                          
"you look cute!" chunhua complimented which made for yankai to have a weird and hot feeling inside of him, they call it jealousy?
                          
xikan blushed, "oh well, thank you! it was my dream to be complimented by the chosen one!"
                          
chunhua giggled, "what are you giggling at? are you falling for him?" yankai glared at the lady beside him
                          
chunhua furrowed her eyebrows, "what the heck? why are you acting like that?"
                          
yankai stuttered, "n-nothing! i-i am j-just confused. that's all!"
                          
"lmao. confused about what?" chunhua laughed
                          
luo zheng butted in, "i just want to let you know if ever one of you falls in love with another, well that's not allowed!"
                          
"what do you mean?" chunhua asked, yankai wanted to hear more explanation as well
                          
mingjun looked at their direction to explain further, "from the books i've read, the chosen one and the cursed one are not compatible with one another and destiny will never allow you to get marry"
                          
"i mean there's no chosen one and cursed one who got married yet, that will be funny" xikan snickered
                          
"oh well" yankai puts his arm around chunhua's shoulder, feeling proud, "we'll be making history then" 
                          
chunhua slaps his arm playfully, "shut up", yankai playfully kissed chunhua's head as the latter laughed
                          
mingjun and luo zheng laughed along with them too but xikan glared at the sight of the two lovely birds
