A/N: Hello everyone, hope you had a good Christmas and chilled out. Bit of a filler chapter, but it's kind of important for what they need to do with the house to fit everyone in. I had to build it on The Sims first before I could write the chapter, so I've put the screenshots in, to help make sense.
Henry's POV
I was home from camp for the weekend and my parents were over to talk about plans for renovating the house. We were finally going to use the basement and make the most of the space we had.
"Right, so I've done the layout for all three floors. The office is moving to the basement. We can put in a music room next door. There's already a small bathroom down there and the rest of the room can be a playroom for the kids."
"Dark there." Scott said coming into the room.
"Don't worry baby, we'll make it nice and bright and cosy." Melissa said. He seemed happy with that, so he ran off to find his siblings to play.
"Okay, so this floor. We can knock out the walls from the old office and living room to make it completely open plan. The bathroom stays where it is and so does the stairs and you can keep a spare bedroom for us if you want. The kitchen expands backwards to fill the gap and the dining room can move away from the front door."
"This looks good so far. What about the bedrooms?" I asked.
"Well, you said you wanted separate bedrooms ready for when the kids grow up right?"
"Yeah, may as well plan ahead so we don't have to do this again." Melissa said.
"Alright. So the main family bathroom stays where it is, no point trying to move water pipes and such. Most of the internal walls will need to be moved to make enough bedrooms."
"Okay, how's that going to work?" I asked.
"So your bedroom is in the same place with an en-suite as well. For the rest of the back wall of the house, Matt is right next to you and then there's Scott. The other side of you will be Kirstie and Mitch right next door to her."
"NO!" Mitch and Kirstie had come into the room and heard that we were separating their bedrooms. "STAY 'GETHER!"
"No worries kids. I've thought this through. We can put a temporary archway or something between your rooms so you are technically still sharing. How does that sound?" he asked the twins.
"Better." They said at the same time, and then they ran outside.
"Okay, continuing. So next to Mitch is Kevin and then next to him and the top of the stairs will be Avi."
"As far away from crying little ones as he can get." Melissa said whilst trying not to laugh. "Genius. He hates being woken up by their crying."
"Believe me, I know. Now Kevin and Avi's rooms are the smallest, but it does give them their own space."
"Sounds good." I said. "Just had a thought, when the kids get older and they no longer need the playroom, if they want to we can move Kevin and Avi downstairs to the basement so their rooms can be bigger and they can have proper space away from their younger siblings."
"Yeah that can work further down the line as long as they are okay with that."
"All looks good. Thanks for helping us with this Thomas." Melissa said.
"Got to take care of my family. That's what family should do."
Later in the day we showed the plans to the kids and all of them were very excited to have their own rooms. Mitch and Kirstie would have a space between theirs for the moment as they had already expressed that they still wanted to stay together. With my parents help we could get most of the work done in the summer, ready to have Matt before school started again. Things were good.
