"Saiyr ,honey,come on we're gonna miss our flight!" My mom called out. I was finishing packing up the last of my boxes, today we were moving to Cali, which I was super excited about because I've been wanting to move to California since I was a small child, it's always been a dream of mine for some reason. anyway we were moving to get away from my mom's ex boyfriend Jesse. he was a horrible person, he was always abusing my mom, he would beat her so bad that she would get broken ribs, and she would end up with nasty bruises and black eyes,now that he's in prison my mom decided to make a run for it before he could find us.
"I'm coming!" I call out to my mom grabbing the last of my box, I took a look at my now empty room. bye old room I'm gonna miss you. I smiled softly remembering all the memories this room held, "Saiyr!" I rolled my eyes "I'm coming mom!" Geez. I jogged down the steps careful not to drop the box I had in my hands which held my most valuable things. I walked outside where my mom was buckling my little brother Nasir in the car. I put my box in the trunk before slamming it shut. "Is that the last of your things?" Mom questions. I nodded . "yup that's all." I huffed as we entered inside her car. I watched as she started the ignition and backed out of the driveway, driving off to the airport. "ready for a fresh start?" Mom smiled at me squeezing my hand. I smiled back and nodded "I'm ready mom."

"Well, This is our home now." Mom said as we walked into our new house. all of our furniture was here we had it shipped over a day ahead. "what do you guys think?" mom questions I look over at her and smile. "it's great mom." "I love it mommy." Nasir smiles. "you love everything nas." Mom chuckles and he chuckled too. "why don't you go pick out your room." Mom tells me. i jump with excitement running to the biggest room in the house which coincidentally had my bed in it. "I call dibs on this room." I yell to my mom setting down my box on my unmade bed. "Alright, well let's start unpacking." She said walking past my room to get to hers. I began unpacking all my things. Decorating my walls, making my bed, setting up and placing my things where I wanted them, I sighed a satisfied sigh as I finished my room, I was really satisfied at how it looked.

"It looks great honey." I turned to see my mom standing in my door way leaning on the door frame with her arms crossed, I smiled. "thanks mama." "Took me five hours but now it looks homey." I huffed crossing my arms over my chest. mom walked over to me wrapping her arms around me from behind. "Things are gonna be different this time baby. We're gonna finally be happy and content I promise. No more bullshit, I've already put you and Nasir through enough of that." She sighed. it broke my heart that she thinks what her Ex boyfriend put us through was her fault. "It wasn't your fault your ex was an abusive asshole," I tell her sincerely. "you didn't know." She nodded and sniffled. "I know, but I-I should've seen the signs." I turned to look at her to see her eyes were watery, I frowned at the sight of her. "mama it's not your fault." I wiped her tears that were falling, she softly smiled at me I instantly smiled back. "how did I get bless with such an amazing daughter?" I smiled wide and shrugged. "I am pretty great, aren't I?" I teased. she shook her head and chuckled. "Baby can you do me a favor?" I nodded. "of course mom." "Could you get my last box out of the trunk please." I chuckled alittle and nodded "On it."
I walked out of my room and outside, over to my moms car grabbing the last of her box. Slamming the trunk shut, I turned around to walk back inside when I noticed a kid around my age coming out of a house across the street from me. the house was alittle rundown and you could see the paint chipping from here, they had a couch on the lawn which I thought was odd but who am I to judge.
The boy was about 5'7 or maybe 5'8,he had dark black hair and was wearing a black wife beater and khaki pants and black vans. He was definitely dressed different than the guys back in Detroit. His eyes darted over to me, I sent him a smile and a wave and he did the same before walking down the side walk. I had a feeling him and I soon would be friends , I smiled to myself and began walking inside my new home.
"Honey, what do you want for dinner? I was thinking of ordering something." Mom says as I walked inside. "oh let's order Chinese." I excitedly said making her chuckle, she nodded and began dialing the number.

"So what do you think about Cali so far?" Mom asked as she ate her wonton soup. "it's good so far, I could definitely get use to the warm weather." I smile softly. "but I would miss the snow we use to get back in Detroit." She nodded. "we can always go back and visit there." She said, I nodded. "so your birthday is in two days, you excited?" She smiled I shrugged "I guess so." I chuckle. "I can't believe my baby is gonna be eighteen." She pouted. "you won't be my little baby anymore." I laugh. "I'll always be your baby, mama." She smiled at me. "so do you know what you wanna do for you special day?" She asked and I shook my head. "well, I don't have any friends to celebrate with. So I was thinking you, nas,and I could watch movies at home and order pizza and eat junk." I said "yes pizza!" Nas claps excitedly, mom and I started to laugh.

I laid in the bed in the dark with my earphones in my ear, listening to my soft music playlist staring at the ceiling, as I wondered what this new start would bring me, I hope it would bring me true happiness I don't think I ever felt true happiness since I lost my father, since he left, everything in my life went downhill, I felt I atleast deserved something good in my life but you don't always get what you want but I longed for something good.
- So this is the first chapter :) it was very boring but it's just the introduction the Next chapter will be better I promise!
Btw Saiyr name is pronounced Sigh-air for anyone who didn't know. 🙂
