I got settled in my room with Lilith. To call it a room was humble. It was basically an apartment. There were two rooms, a small bathroom and a living room, which held two desks and a large couch. It was spacious. Lilith rumbled through the desk that we determined hers.
"Yes!" She exclaimed, smiling. "They have pencils and paper!"
I smiled at my sister's goofiness. She was an artist. If there was one thing she would never give up, it would be her art supplies, which she hadn't brought to the Gardens when she got kidnapped.
Lilith sat at her desk and drew as I took a shower and changed into some athletic clothes which were brought to me earlier.
A short while after, I got called out to train younger Haites. I didn't really want to train my enemies, but did I really have a choice? I slowly followed the guard to a training ground, slightly bigger than the prisoners' training grounds. I noticed Captain Soji sitting on a rock and laying his back against the cliff. I waited for a few seconds before a little gang of Haites came out.
I couldn't help but train them properly. How and where to kick, how to properly throw and dodge punches and how to be discreet and silent. It was in my nature. No matter how much I loathed someone, I couldn't train them incorrectly.
As I was showing an especially hard headed guy how to throw a punch without breaking his wrist, I heard a rock fly to pieces. Everyone froze. I saw Captain Soji with bloodied knuckles, breathing hard. I couldn't help but feel concerned.
I hope he won't get infected, there seems to be rocks in his wounds.
I then questioned myself on why I was so concerned, but didn't get to concentrate on that much longer, as I saw Captain Shi, or whatever his name might be crouch next to him. They conversed silently for a few seconds. I tried to get what they were saying, but I couldn't, even with my Sylphee hearing. They were too far away.
Suddenly, Captain Shi stood up and went towards us.
"Training dismissed." He simply stated.
"Who are you to decide that?" I asked.
"Your superior." He replied.
"Hard to take someone younger as my superior." I said, raising an eyebrow.
"Well I'm a Captain, you're a trainer. Get used to it sweetie." He answered.
"Cocky." I said.
He grabbed my collar and looked at me in the eyes.
" Wanna say that again?"
"Cocky." I said again, challenging him with my eyes.
He threw me on the ground and I got up, dusting off my combat pants. He turned around and called out right before going back to Captain Soji.
"Training dismissed."
I groaned and looked at the Haites leaving, before turning back to Captain Shi and giving him a death glare. As I was about to leave, followed by my guard, I heard both Captains speaking, a lot louder than the first time.
"What the hell was that for?" Captain Soji snarled.
"I-I told you not to take anything personal!" The other one replied.
It was the first time I heard him so scared.
"You know that's not how bonds work! I don't even want to be mad at you, but I am." Captain Soji cried out.
My guard pushed me through the door and closed it behind us.
Bond.
I knew that we got bonds around our 19th birthday, some before and some after. I also remember that Captain Soji was about 19 years-old.
We passed through the endless corridors, which were becoming familiar. We stopped right in front of room E258. My room. I entered and saw Jules, Zack and Lilith sitting on the couch and chatting.
"Hey..." I said, dropping to the ground.
"Hey! Back already?" My sister asked me. I sighed.
"Not exactly. Something happened." I said, hoping I wouldn't have to explain.
"What do you mean, something happened?" Jules asked, scanning my dirty clothes.
Right, I fell to the ground. Or more like got thrown. Jerk.
"Captain Soji had some sort of issue that they didn't tell us and Shi brutally told us this training was ended."
"What issue? Do you know?" Jules asked.
"He's about 19, isn't he? Isn't that the age when they bond?" Zack asked, turning to Jules.
"From what I heard, yeah." She answered.
"Now that you mentioned it, he did say something to Shi about a bond as I was leaving." I explained.
"Did he mention a name? What did he say?" Jules asked, leaning towards me.
"He was saying something about how that wasn't how bonds worked and that he was mad at Shi even though he didn't want to. Shi even sounded scared!" I said, looking at them.
Zack smiled at Jules who turned to me, smirking.
"What?" I asked.
"May I know why your clothes are so dirty?" Jules asked, not dropping her smirk.
"You're not saying-" My sister dropped her sentence mid-way.
"Yeah." Jules looked at me, urging me to answer her question.
"The jerk threw me on the ground 'cause I called him cocky." I declared, leaning my head back on the wall behind me.
"I was right!" Jules said, raising both hands in victory.
"No! Not MY baby sister!" Lilith said, burying her face in her hands.
I looked at them cluelessly.
"What are you guys even talking about?" I asked.
"Oh 'Liza, oh clueless young 'Liza." Lilith looked at me. She raised one of her hands as Zack opened his mouth to speak. "Don't tell her." She said, a pleading look in her eyes.
"Not tell me what? Lilith!" I exclaimed, standing up.
"Oh Gods, please 'Liza. Don't ask. Your curiosity will be the death of you!" She said.
Never had I seen my sister so concerned, except that one time when I fell into the rapids of a river when I was 12. Nirako was the one to save me that time and it was the first time I gave him my trust. Big mistake.
"Look, if Eliza wants to know, she can." Zack said, shrugging.
Jules was about to say something when a knock at the door interrupted her.
