A part two of 'So This Is Love?' was requested by a few readers, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to come up with one! It's not as long as the original chapter but I think it helps tie up some loose ends. It picks up right off where the previous story ended.
"Oh my god." I say as soon as I pull away. The wind is piercing, whipping our hair around. Annabeth's eyes are bright, lit up with her smile. I can't believe that actually just happened. I kissed Annabeth? And she kissed me back?
"Took you long enough." She says and we are both laughing, the sound mixing in with the waves crashing against the pier.
"How about we go somewhere a little warmer?" I suggest and she nods enthusiastically. I take her hand in mind again and we go looking for a place to warm up, preferably a place with coffee. There's a small café closer to the street and we run against the wind inside. The little bell on the door rings as we walk in, reminding me of the one at the bookstore. I can hear Annabeth's teeth chattering as I pull out a chair for her before sitting on the other side. An older lady comes over to take our order, smiling at the both of us.
"What'll it be?" She asks kindly.
"Two hot chocolates, please." Annabeth says. The lady brings out two steaming mugs a few minutes later and we thank her. I take a sip and relish in the warmth spreading throughout my body.
"So, what now?" Annabeth asks me. Always curious, she is. I shrug.
"Dunno. We can go back to the bookstore. My mom usually takes a lunch break in about an hour." I say. Annabeth rolls her eyes at me, something I notice she does frequently in my presence.
"Not where to next, you goober. I meant what now for us? You kissed me, so what does that mean?" She specifies and I feel a little dumb. Of course that's what she meant. I would be curious too if I were her. I truly don't know how to answer though. I know exactly what I would like to happen but I am afraid that it might not be what she wants too.
"What do you think? I kissed you for a reason." I test the waters, seeing how she reacts.
"I know that. Does that mean you want to be more than friends? Because I would't mind that." She smiles. I choke on my hot chocolate, not expecting that. She waits for me to stop coughing before speaking again.
"Honestly, Percy. Do you really think I would have kissed you back like that if I minded?" She smirks. My face would heat up if it weren't already red from me almost dying just now.
"Yes, I want to be more than friends." I say, and she smiles happily. Feeling giddy, I go to pay for our drinks. The nice lady who brought them too us rings me up.
"How long have you two been together?" She asks me. I look up in surprise.
"How could you tell? Not long at all." I reply.
"Just in the way you two look at each other. Trust me, sonny. I've had this little shop longer then you've been alive and I've seen many a couple come though here. I know the look of love when I see it." She smiles sweetly and I look back at Annabeth waiting for me. Her mouth turns up in a small grin when she sees me looking.
"Thank you." I tell the lady and we head back out into the cold. Thankfully we aren't too far from the bookstore, or else I would get a cab.
"Since we probably are already in trouble for skipping, let's just go back to the store. No doubt that Paul called my mom to let her know. Will your dad and step mom be mad?" I ask her.
"If they ever get the message, I'm sure. But my dad works long hours and my step mom really only pays attention to my step brothers. They probably won't notice." She says. Reaching the store, I see the sign on the door saying that it will re-open in an hour. I unlock the door and let Annabeth in first. I lead the way to the back, sitting in the same bean bags where we had our first real conversation. This time Annabeth sits in the one next to me, instead of up on the bookshelf. It's quiet, just the two of us.
