"Don't think they'll allow me to go over your place these holidays," said Sirius to James in the mirror one day in the holiday.
"Why?" asked James.
Sirius grinned. "They want to make me realize that joining Voldemort is the best thing that could happen to us. Regulus and I are getting lectures every day. Purity of blood—Muggleborns are scum—join the Dark Lord, etc, etc."
"Turn into a dog and bite them!"
"I have got a good mind to."
James and Sirius sniggered.

Towards the end of the holidays, James called Sirius on the mirror one day.
"Sirius, I am Quidditch captain!"
"Wow, that's great! It was a bit obvious, though. After Emily passed out, 'twas bound to be you."
"And old Moony is a Prefect."
Sirius laughed. "Tell him from me that there are no surprises there."
"Three days to go," said James cheerfully.
"For our OWL year."
"Bye!" said James. "Oh, wait, one second! I almost transformed once, too."
"Really? Can you imagine what adventures we could have as animals?"
"Can't even begin to imagine." James grinned.
