She rang the doorbell since she didn't have her key. She heard her mother yell. "Be right there".
The door swung open, Jessica's red hair was slightly ruffled, which she was trying to fix. Alexia clears her throat. "Hey Mom". Jessica grins happily grabbing her into a hug. "I've missed you too, you should see how big....Jayden... is...getting. Who's this?" Her eyes fell to the arm wrapped around her waist. "Is this your mate?"
She pulls him into a hug, not waiting for a reply. "It's so nice to meet you", she squeals, finally releasing him. "What's going on?", came Adrian's voice.
Jessica steps back from the door gesturing them in. "Alex brought her mate". Adrian came into view, his eyes assessing the male. "Your'e a lycan", he breathes out confused. His attention fell on his daughter, "You didn't tell me your mate was a lycan", he says slowly. Alex shifted from one foot to the other as the situation settled in. This wasn't good.Matthew extends out a hand. "Matthew Ainsley". Adrian took his hand in a firm grip. "Adrian Jackson, this is my mate and wife Jessica". They were locked in a heated stare-off, although Alex felt honored at the protective display her father had, she didn't want any bad blood between them.
Alexia clears her throat. "Well apart from seeing you guys again we're here because we had nowhere to stay", Jessica frowns. "So where were you two staying before?"
"So is it okay?" She asked quickly redirecting the question. Adrian nods. "Perfect, you came just in time for dinner".Jessica says, trying to smooth things over.
Jessica led them to the dining room, setting two extra places.
"Where's Jayden?" She asks. "In his room sleeping", Jessica replies busy at the stove. Alexia tugs Matthew upstairs, leading him to Jayden's room. She took up the babbling red haired baby, smiling down at him. He gurgles softly, grabbing her fingers. She glances at Matthew. "Wanna hold him?" She asks softly. He shook his head. She laughs at the mortified look on his face. "You aren't scared of a tiny little baby are you?" She teases. Matthew frowns. "No, but-". He clears his throat. "I don't think your father will react well to me holding his offspring."
"So do you want kids? in the future I mean?" She asks softly, avoiding his gaze, instead staring down at the baby. "Yes I do, having a family of my own has been something I craved for years during time I had been trapped in my lycan form. You?" She sighs softly, all I have ever wanted was to become Alpha of this pack, take up after my father when he decided to step down for good, but that has been a challenge because he thinks women are good for only being live-in maids and procreating. He has never failed to remind me of how much he wanted his first born to be a boy, I have never given much thought to having kids of my own cause that would only put the dreams I had for years on the back burner, so no, I don't want kids, maybe sometime in the future that will change, but no time soon".
"How about we return downstairs for dinner now?" She suggests a clear sign that the conversation was done, picks up Jayden taking him with her.
Dinner was an interrogation room for Matthew, filled with questions about how they met, both evading the question by throwing around questions of their own.
After dinner, Alex played with Jayden, while her mother washed up, her father busy in his office, while Matthew just watched her. She looks at him as he covers his mouth to hold back a yawn. She smiles at him, taking up Jayden. "Ready to go to bed?" He nods. She smiles once more.
"Mom", she calls, "We're gonna hit the sack, I'll put Jay to bed". Jessica nods. "Thanks hun, it was nice to finally meet you too Matthew". Matthew nods. "You too Ma'am".
Once she had put Jay to sleep, she led Matthew to her room, which was accentuated with black and white furnishings. The bed was stationed in the middle of the room, covered in black, a door led to a walk in closet, another leading to a bathroom.
Matthew sets down the suitcases. "You don't have to unpack, we won't be here long", she says. Matthew nods, stretching slightly. She points to the bathroom. "I'm gonna shower". "Okay". She hurried into the bathroom, taking a quick shower, using her favourite lavender scented shampoo. Once out, she tugs on her usual sleepwear, a pair of shorts and a tank top. She throws up her hair in a messy ponytail, before closing the door and making her way to bed.
He walks closer, stopping before her. He tucks a strand of her dark hair behind an ear, leaning in to kiss her cheek. "Beautiful", he whispers huskily. Her cheeks tinged pink, she bit the insides of her cheek.
She couldn't wrap her head around the fact that she turned to putty in his hands, every time he touched her. She had never felt this way about someone before. He kisses her forehead, before stepping back.
She climbs into bed, yawning softly, watching him make his way to the bathroom. She had fallen asleep by the time he returned, feeling the tingles from his touch as he tugged her closer, wrapping his arm around her waist inhaling deeply. She felt his lips brush against her neck as he whispered goodnight.
