He knocked before  opening the door and walking in. He knew the boy wouldn't answer, so if  he hoped to get into the room, he'd have to just walk in. Robin placed  the food in front of the small boy.

"Are you hungry?" Robin  watched as Phantom hugged himself tighter and he mentally sighed. "Look,  I want you to know I don't like what they did to you. I was asleep when  this all happened, but if you can get through the week-"

"D-Do y-you hate me?" Robin paused, surprised that the boy had spoken, let alone interrupted him.

"No, why would you think that?" Robin went to place a hand on his shoulder but thought better of it.

"B-Because I-I hurt you." Phantom looked up and Robin's heart broke at the sight. Since Phantom had had a mask on the team never actually saw his eyes. Robin kinda wished the mask was still on preferred to the sight before him. The dull  green eyes of the boy seemed to grow darker, his spark fully gone and tears filled his eyes, waiting to spill over. Marks, from what he can only assume was his mask when it burrowed under his skin, a dotted outline circling his forehead all the way around to the bridge of his nose. Robin placed a hand on  the boy's shoulder and he flinched.

"It's my fault for  hugging you," Robin smiled. "I always knew hugs were deadly." Phantom  gave him a small smile. Robin smiled brighter at sight, he was trying to smile. The boy  massaged his cheeks, not used to that movement. They talked quietly  while Phantom ate. Well, Robin talked and Phantom did his best to join  in at times, still not used to talking this much.

-----

The week flew by fast.  Phantom stayed in his room most of the time, avoiding the team during  his punishment. It's not that he blamed them or anything. If anything,  it was his fault. He's the halfa. He was the one who messed up and injured Robin. He just didn't want to hurt anyone  else, though Robin didn't care. He talked to Phantom every day, but he  could sense something was off. Phantom was always quiet, but he started to become  quieter, even more... closed off. Phantom tried to keep up with Robin,  hiding the fact that he couldn't get too close. He really liked the boy,  he enjoyed their time together, but if he's learned anything, it's that  humans, even heroes, can turn at any time.

Robin chuckled as Phantom pulled his knees even closer to his body. His throat was feeling better and he could speak longer without coughing which really helped since M.I.N.A. wasn't around anymore. He actually missed the little mask, though it did hurt like hell to put on at first, M.I.N.A. was Phantom's first friend. Phantom pressed his nose to the tip of his knees. Camile had been his friend too, at least he considered her to be one. And she was killed. Did everyone he like have to end up dying? Phantom glanced at Robin as he talked animatedly. A horrible thought brought tears to Phantom's eyes. Would Robin die if they became friends?

Batman walked into the  room, and Phantom kept his head down. Robin helped him up, escorting him  to the zeta tube. He waved as the two turned into gold light, going up  to the Watchtower. He was worried about the small boy, but he knew  Batman wouldn't do anything too bad. Hopefully.

"Welcome back, Phantom,"  Wonder Woman smiled. Phantom clutched his gloves, keeping his head down.  Martian Manhunter forced his head up, and Phantom flinched. He could  see the whole group of heroes, and the green guy wouldn't let him keep  his head down.

"It is rude to not make eye contact when someone is speaking to you," Manhunter joked. Phantom gulped before glancing at Batman. The man caught his eye and the boy squeaked, wanting to snap his head down in a blanket of security, but the invisible force pushed it  up.

"Alright," Superman clapped, making Phantom jump. "Let's get this over with. Phantom, you  haven't hurt anyone this whole week, right?"

"R-Right." Phantom  nodded, closing one eye. He wanted to put his head down, but the stupid  force wasn't letting him. He gritted his teeth, anger coursing through  him. Manhunter flinched, feeling Phantom's anger. Phantom noticed and  immediately calmed down, and Manhunter raised an eyebrow. Phantom tried  again, and the force gave out. Phantom gasped, shaking his head slightly to rid himself of the Manhunter's parting gift as he gained control of his body.
