We had all bet that Percy didn't have a girlfriend. Every single one of us on the Swim Team. Except for Luke. Though he neither confirmed nor denied whether he believed in Percy's girlfriend, we could tell he was loosing his faith in his friend.
So when I was invited to Percy's place for a Swim Team party, I was thrilled. I'd been to Percy's mom's house about twice, and his mom made the best cookies. But I was confused when Percy handed me a new address. His parents must have moved.
I carpooled with my fellow teammates, Jordan, Ben, and Teddy.
"Dude!" Jordan said, tapping my arm. "Check it out!"
Sally's new house turned out to be more of a mansion. It was gorgeous.
I got out eagerly and walked up to the door. Sally opened door. "Oh! Boys! Come in, come in. Percy!" she yelled over her shoulder. "Your swim team friends are here!"
A young woman appeared next to her. "I'll get Percy."
Oh my golly. It was Annabeth Chase. The smartest, prettiest, girl in all of NYU. What in the worl was she doing here?
Sally smiled. "Thanks, dear."
Her blonde hair flew behind her as she ran off down a hall. Sally stepped aside to allow us in. Annabeth came back with Percy in tow. He was dripping wet. Annabeth sighed and quickly left.
"Hey guys!" Percy smiled.
"Hey Percy! Pretty awesome place your parents have!" Liam said.
He smiled. "Thanks, but this is mine."
"What?!"
Percy looked at me, grinning. "Yeah, my dad, my biological dad, and some of his family pitched in to buy me this place. Annabeth designed it herself."
"Annabeth?" I asked.
"She's actually good, believe it or not."
"I didn't say I didn't think she was." I said, raising my hand in mock surrender, "She's literally the smartest girl in school."
Annabeth came back and threw a towel at Percy. He caught it and dried himself off. She wiped up the tile.
"Wanna go swimming?"

Percy has a pool like every two feet. There are so many. We ended up going to one outside, a lap pool near the edge of his property.
It was pretty cool. His whole house is. Percy dove in and swam across in record time. He's basically a fish.
He came out, grinning. "Dude, that was fast!" Weston said, awed.
Percy smiled. "All in a day's, work."
Someone scoffed from a distance. We all turned our heads to see Annabeth Chase, lounging in a chair, reading a large book. "Please," she said, not even looking up.
Percy went over to her and shut her book.
Oh my golly, was he in for it.
But instead of judo-flipping him or something else, she smiled at him, and kissed him gently on the cheek.
Percy came back, smiling smugly. "And that, is how to get a girl."
We all stared in awe at him for a second until Gavin got up and tried it himself.
He walked up to Annabeth, who was once again focused on her book. Gavin lightly shut it and smiled at her. She raised an eyebrow. "Gavin."
"Annabeth." He waited.
"Go on."
Silence. "That's what I thought."
Gavin walked off. "Dude. What did you do?"
Percy grinned. "She's my girlfriend."
Jack accidentally belly-flopped into the pool he was so surprised. "I'm sorry," Carter said, "What the Hell did you say?"
The smiled melted off of Percy's face instantaneously. Annabeth over from behind and hugged him. He turned into her.
"I hate it." he said.
She patted his back understandingly. "I do too."
They sat down together on a lounge chair, side by side. Percy was looking down. Annabeth whispered something into his ear and he shook his head. She spoke again and he nodded.
She looked up and smiled at us. While rubbing Percy's back, she said, "A while back, when Percy and I were a bit younger, we had the misfortune of...ah, going the wrong direction in the woods. We were attacked by mo-sorry, animals, and that proved to be quite traumatic for he both of us. We were both horribly wounded but eventually were rescued. As time went by, we both discovered we had Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and that makes nightmares for us. Mine got better a little while ago but Percy still struggles from PTSD and flashbacks. The word Hell and Tartarus and other variations of such are prime causes of this."
We all stared, slightly dumbfounded. "Why?"
"I don't like to bring it up." he responded.
"Why?"
He sighed.
Annabeth pulled him back to look at her. "In sickness or health, okay?"
What?
