Tomorrow, I'll talk to her tomorrow, Beca told herself. But talking to Chloe the following day never happened. It had been a week and Beca hadn't spoken to Chloe at all. She had been ignoring her texts and phone calls. Beca wasn't proud of what she did but she just wasn't ready to face Chloe. She had no idea what to say to her and the more time went by the worse Beca felt. It wasn't until one day that Chloe caught Beca leaving for work one morning that the redhead decided to find out what was going on with the brunette.
"Hey, stranger," Chloe greeted and it made Beca's blood drain from her face.
"Oh, hey," Beca forced a smile.
"I haven't heard from you in a while. Everything okay?"
"Yeah, I've just been sick," Beca lied, putting her bag in her car.
"Sick, huh?"
"Yeah,"
"So you go to work when you're sick even though you feel like death and you're not the nicest person?"
Beca knew she had been caught out but was too stubborn to admit it.
"Have you been avoiding me?" Chloe asked and the question hurt Beca.
Beca never thought that she'd avoid Chloe but that's exactly what she was doing.
"I... I've just had a lot going on with me recently and I... I'm not good when I'm trying to figure stuff out... and I don't know how to tell people that I'm not doing well either. I'm sorry about that."
"No, that's okay. Is everything alright? Did you want to talk about it?" Chloe asked, taking a step closer to Beca whose breath hitched.
"I, ah, I've got to go to work."
"I meant tonight," she laughed softly. "I've been waiting to have pizza with you and watch that movie. Come on," Chloe nudged Beca's arm. "I've missed you."
Beca's heart melted at the words and like that, everything she felt over the past week dissolved and she caved.
"Alright," Beca nodded and Chloe's face lit up.
"Awes! Then we can have a chat about what's going on with you if you want to? I know you're very guarded but talking does make you feel better. Trust me on that."
"Let's see how we go."
"Okay. I'll see you tonight."
"Sounds good." Beca forced another smile then got in her car where Chloe watched her drive away and wave the younger woman goodbye.
What the Hell am I going to do? Beca thought.
~
Beca had finished work at the radio station and she was more than nervous about seeing Chloe that night. The brunette still had no idea what she was going to tell Chloe but after hours of thinking and overthinking, Beca had come to the conclusion that she should just tell Chloe the truth. Not the whole truth obviously but the interaction she saw between Chloe and the other woman. She just had to figure out a way to word it so it didn't sound like she was perving on Chloe in any way even though that's exactly what she did.
The time eventually came where Beca went over to Chloe's house. Beca had received a text earlier from Chloe telling the brunette to wear something comfortable so Beca opted for sweatpants and a hoodie. Beca made her way to Chloe's then knocked on the door and was greeted with that same beautiful smile she was always greeted with.
"There she is! Come on in!" Chloe beamed.
"Thanks," Beca chuckled, noting Chloe dressed in sweatpants and a loose pyjama shirt.
She looked adorable like a teenager ready for a sleepover. Beca went straight into the living room where Chloe had set everything up for their night together. Chloe had blankets, pizza, drinks, and other snacks ready to go.
"Wow, you're not mucking around are you?" Beca laughed.
"Nope! Make yourself comfortable and I'll get the hot drinks ready."
"Thanks." Beca sat on the couch and snuggled into it.
Chloe had a very comfortable couch and Beca missed sitting on it. A lot of fond memories were on that couch, even if it was just Beca and Chloe talking about nonsense for hours on end, it still meant the world to Beca.
"Okay, I made you a hot chocolate to get you nice and warm. It's been quite cold recently, which is a bummer since I love the warmer weather." Chloe sat down next to Beca and handed the younger woman her beverage.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome," Chloe smiled then grabbed a blanket, sat next to Beca, and pulled it over the both of them.
"Comfy?" Beca checked, trying hard not to laugh.
"Almost," Chloe scooted closer to the brunette and flung her leg over Beca's so she was lying half on top the younger woman. "There," Chloe nestled against Beca and it made Beca's heart race.
Even though they were pretty good friends after about two weeks, they had never actually been this physically close with one another and Beca wasn't sure how to feel about it. She was never one for intimacy of any kind but this was Chloe - the woman she had a major crush on so of course, it was different. Chloe broke down Beca's walls in a matter of days so being intimate with her like that wasn't that much of a big deal.
Beca quickly forgot about what she was going to say to Chloe once the movie started and they began to eat and to Beca's surprise, she actually liked the movie Chloe picked. It was a comedy but also an action film so it was able to maintain Beca's interest, both to the women's delight.
"Sorry, Becs, but I've got to pause it," Chloe said, taking the remote and pausing the movie.
"Oh, come on!" Beca protested.
"I'm sorry but I've gotta pee." Chloe sat up and moved off of Beca.
"Way to kill the mood, Beale,"
Chloe giggled. "I'll be right back, Mitchell,"
Beca laughed and watched Chloe walk off. Once Chloe was gone, Beca stretched out and finished off her soda. She was having a great time and she felt like an idiot for avoiding Chloe for so long but that was always a problem Beca had - she would push people away and not realise the impact it had on other people. Beca felt an overwhelming sensation to apologise to Chloe and she planned to do exactly that after the movie where she also planned to tell Chloe what had been bothering her the past week.
Beca relaxed on the couch as she patiently waited for Chloe but instead of Chloe returning, Beca had received a text from the older woman instead.
Chloe: Hey, Becs, can you come upstairs to my room for a minute? It's the first door on the right. xx
Beca thought the request was odd but she didn't protest.
Beca: Sure. Be right there.
Beca threw the blanket off her body and made her way upstairs to Chloe's bedroom.
