Chapter thirty

                                    

                                          
I posted the first 2 parts of The Insecure Beauty. One is an author's note the other is the characters. Just wanted to mention it in case you guys didn't see that yet. I'll start updating the chapters for The Insecure Beauty after the epilogue chapter of Intoxicated with you. Oh the video is BTS - save me. I think it really suits this chapter. Katherine's POV 
                          
"Mrs.White I'd like you to meet my mom." 
                          
Melanie stood in front me pointing to the woman standing beside her. They look like copies of each other. Both having the same shade of blond hair and blue eyes. 
                          
"Mom this is my guidance counselor, Mrs.White." 
                          
Melanie turns towards her then looks at me. 
                          
"Nice to meet you Mrs.White." 
                          
Melanie's mom says looking at me. She seemed nice and a good mother. This is the most Melanie has talked to me from the start without me asking her a question. Before I met them I was walking up and down the hallway to introduce myself to the parents who came to the parent's teachers conference. Along the way Melanie spotted me and waved me over to meet her mom.
                          
I can stay in my office but I prefer to interact with parents and getting to know them as individual behind each student. Its nice when you place a face to the person responsible for rasing the wonderful person you've grown to know from advising. Also there are always students who wanted me to meet their parents. So I try to do my part instead of having them go to my office. 
                          
The parent's teachers conference is one time during the school year when commication between parents and teachers, coordinator, and guidance counselor, Is formed, in order to address each student's academic needs. Even so there are some parents who aren't involved in their child's education but for the ones who make the effort to be here I appreciate it greatly.
                          
It's been almost two years since I've been working at James Monroe high school. I've witnessed students who are some of the smartest individuals not getting the highest grades in class and often times its due to a lack of parent's involvement in their education. Whether in the home or taking part in school activities to help enrich their needs. 
                          
After wishing Melanie and her mom good night I walked around some more. Introducing myself to other parents and talking to a few of the teachers as well. All in all it was a good night. By the time it's close for me to head home I went to use the restroom first. Doing my business then I flushed and washed my hands. 
                          
I was ready to go home when I finaly went back to my office to grab my belongings and lock up for the night. I pulled the key out the door and walked down to the nearest stairwell. I was parked in the staff parking lot so that's where I headed. 
                          
Outside the sky is black, the sun has set awhile ago. I pull my thick coat tighter around myself and clutch my purse as I head over to my car. Getting close I start to search for my car keys but because its so dark out I struggled with locating them. Setting the purse on the hood of the car I lean in to try and make out the silver of my car key. 
                          
Ruffling through my things I look in the pockets and zipper until I feel it behind my calender book. I pluck it out to insert then suddenly I feel a hard whack to the back of my head. Not a second later I lose my grip on the key. It drops to the ground and my body quickly follows descending. 
                          
Whoever hit me over the head, is so hard I don't even recognize I haven't quite fallen to the ground. The person stops me from falling. My eyes are blurry from the impact. I feel my whole frame become weak but still I try to keep my eyes open. Even when it feels impossible to do so from the way my skull starts to pound like my brain is shook back and forth in my head.
