"Come on, Y/N," Camila called out. I followed closely behind her with soft steps, however, all I could see was darkness.

Everything around me was dark, I couldn't even see my hand as I raised it in front of me. Just then, I remembered what Camila said about the metal doors housing destructive children.

"Ca—Camila," I stuttered out, fear overtaking my voice. "Are you sure we should be here? What if—what if someone..." I lowered my voice to a mere whisper, "...kills us?"

"I wouldn't go as far as that."

I screamed as an unknown voice answered my question. However, it was muffled by the loud bang of the metal door as it locked back into place. I already accepted the fact that I was going to die when a soft light appeared in front of me. Slowly, it grew larger and larger until I noticed a fire burning in someone's hands. I slowly looked up and saw the soft light illuminating a girl's face.

"Hi," she said, smiling at me. Her voice startled me so much that I stepped backward instinctively. I bumped into Camila but she just held my shoulders and steadied me. "You must be Y/N."

"H—how did you—" My thoughts stopped as I peered into her eyes. Her right one was tinted with such a light blue that it almost blended into whiteness while her left eye was a soft green hue that reminded me of freshly cut grass in the morning.

Her smile never left her face as she nodded at me. "Come, Camila told me to prepare something for you."

Before I could even look at Camila, she was already pushing me forward following this weird girl. We stopped in front of a wall while the girl made her way behind us. "What is going on?" I asked, but Camila just winked at me and put her finger against her lips.

Just then, a small light whizzed its way from the side of my face and in front of me. I squinted to see what it was when another light floated in front of me—followed by another and another and another until I realized what was happening.

I was surrounded by fireflies.

"Woah," I breathed out, reveling in the beauty of them. I reached out my hand and one landed on my finger. I turned to Camila in excitement and saw her giggling as the darkness around her beautiful face disappeared with the insects hovering near her.

I felt my chest tighten at that moment. It was a foreign feeling—something I never felt before. But for some reason, it wasn't bad. As I stared at Camila's smiling face, all I could think about was that I wanted to be with her in this moment forever.

She suddenly looked at me with a surprised look on her face. But soon that was gone and replaced with a soft smile.

Without warning, various vines of plants grew from the ground and crept up the walls, quickly making their way up the ceiling. Lights dangled from them and I didn't even know where they came from. What plants bore fairy lights as fruits?

But then they all twinkled in different colors and I was instantly awed.

Everything was beautiful.

The once grim darkness of the room was now replaced with a mass explosion of colors. The fireflies flew around the fairy lights like they were their long lost relatives.

"This beauty," I heard Camila say beside me, "is something I've always longed to see outside of these walls." She turned to me with a sad smile. "But sometimes, I don't know if I ever will."

I shook my head, making the fireflies hovering around me scatter into the darkness. "You will. I'll make sure my dad gets you out of here, Camila."
