[THIRD POV]
"Wake up" one man shook the other in a rush, the other hand trying to pull their clothes back up their calloused body
"What?" The blonde one groaned, looking at the face of their worried lover
"I don't how, I don't care how, but we're under attack" and the blonde immediately sprung up"Under attack?!" They got off the bed and started pulling their clothes and armor out of the dresser "Yes, most likely Talon"
"Yeah, well, you fucking killed their leader, Gabe"
"Now is not the time for this!" The dark man hissed at the one with sea blue eyes"It's never the time for your mistakes, is it?!"
Gabriel rolled his eyes and left Jack standing in the room, worried and fuming
"GABRIEL" he yelled, but was ignoredThe blonde angrily pulled their outfit together and ran after their boyfriend while hastily grabbing their pulse rifle
When he made it there, there was only chaos
Genji was trying his best in holding as many back as he could and mercy had tracer next to her, patching up the smaller girlThere was Ana who had one eye bleeding and her gun ruined. Reinhardt was trying to protect her from the onslaught
Jack didn't remember how it happened..
It was an accident..
He shot his attack one way and it found Gabriel's, an explosion ripping from the contactHe quickly dashed off and everyone made their quick exit. Some were more fortunate than others.
He heard McCree say 'high noon' before shooting the rest of the Talon membersTracer was gone, Ana, Rein and Pharah were gone, Genji was gone, Moira, Zarya, Jesse had soon also disappeared too.
He could only see a running Mercy, rushing towards some rubbleShe had syringes and tools with her
It confused him.. why was she headed there?
He rushed after her and saw her dragging a beat up Gabriel that looked barely still alive
Their eyes met for a second and Gabe nodded towards one of the few exits from the wasteland'If anything happens to me, you leave. You leave and you don't look back' Gabriel had once told him
He couldn't understand why he said those things
Gabriel didn't know how he'd die or when he'd die
Jack never understood itBut, Gabriel was going to die either way and he at least had to listen to him for the last time
He helped Mercy pull him up from the rubble and held back tears when he heard Gabriel utter those words again"You need to leave, Jack. Leave me and don't look back" Gabe ordered in a rough tone "I know" he whispered to his lover
He picked up his pulse rifle and stumbled towards the exit. He stopped for a few minutes to gather up some things before he made it towards the final path until he left for good
That's when Mercy stopped him
Confused and puzzled- blissfully ignorant
She pointed to the opposite direction and he nodded, not even hearing her"..I know"
He was still stuck in that same spot
Holding Gabriel's hand
Tears on the verge of spilling and lips quivering
The feel of his boyfriend's cold lips still on hisHe turned around and walked
He left her there, screaming apologies for what she'd accidentally done to himHe didn't know what that was
Was he dying faster now? Slower?
He wasn't sure what was happening. There was something both weren't telling him"Goodbye, Gabe.." he uttered as he went through the door and, as told, didn't look back as he left the Swiss base
Overwatch was shortly disbanded thereafter
And he went off the radar for the next few yearsTurning into the vigilante, Soldier76
