"Great! Fan-fucking-tastic!" Jaxon threw his bag then rushed to grab it again before someone took it. "You just had to say something, didn't you?!" I watched him go off then sighed.

"At least now they know." Jax stopped and looked over at me.

"I guess..."

We stared at each other for a second before he laughed and threw an arm around my neck.

"C'mon Keith! Maybe we can find a cave or something to sleep in." We searched until it got dark, when we finally found a cave that would fit both of us comfortably.

"What about the entrance?" I asked my partner. He opened his mouth to answer but had nothing. His face filled with panic. I rolled my eyes.

"Let's go. I think I saw a boulder big enough on our way here." We made our way to the boulder and started to roll it to the entrance of our cave. It was hard since the entrance was big, which meant the boulder was huge. And neither of us were insanely strong. The wind picked up and we pushed harder, barely making any progress. Lightning flashed in the sky, signalling the explosion of quintessence that happened every night. As long as we were sheltered, the worst thing that could happen was a flash of someone else's memories, but it was clear to me that we weren't gonna make it, and I didn't want to find out what would happen if somebody were to get caught in it. With a rush of adrenaline, I shoved Jaxon into the cave and moved the boulder in front of it. I slumped against the rock, panting and looking up to see a bright yellow explosion. Closing my eyes and cringing, I braced myself for whatever was coming.
